After buying a new washing machine, I carefully studied the instructions. It clearly stated that the door must be left open after work.

And such an environment is very favorable for the maturation of various bacteria and the appearance of mold. Moreover, an unpleasant smell can occur.

Wanting to avoid such misfortunes, I diligently followed the recommendations and always kept the door open after washing. But one day an incident occurred that made me reconsider my approach somewhat.

Flood protection

I somehow returned from the market. An unpleasant sewer smell hit my nose. I went into the kitchen and gasped. A huge pool of muddy water was spreading across the floor. I rushed to look for the cause of this phenomenon and found that it was pouring through the side of the washing machine tank.

The muddy, smelly water kept coming in and out, but I didn't know what to do. An indignant neighbor from the lower floor rang the doorbell, who came with a claim - I flooded her apartment. But the kitchen was recently renovated.

I called the plumber with a request for urgent help. He eliminated the accident, and then explained how the dirty water ended up in the washing machine.

If the door is not closed, then everything will flow to the floor. This is what happened in my kitchen. And since I was away for a long time, the damage was significant. Not only did I have to take out all the dirt from the kitchen, but I also had to pay for the repairs in the neighbors' apartment.

Even if such a nuisance recurs, water accumulates inside and does not cause much harm.

Safety of children and pets

Then I looked on the Internet - some housewives also close their doors, but for a different reason. When there are small children in the house, an interesting unit will surely attract their attention.

And you can also ride on the door if mom didn't keep track. The kid may well break it by hanging from above.

I remembered that my beloved cat Fluff is constantly hiding somewhere, he likes secluded places. One day I found him sleeping peacefully on linen prepared for washing. He found the drum of the machine quite a cozy place, suitable for a quiet rest. And if I hadn't looked inside before washing, a very unpleasant story could have happened to the cat.

And before washing, I check if my fluffy treasure has accidentally got inside.

But I still don't forget about the recommendations of the manufacturers of these household appliances.

And as the granddaughter grows up a little, I will explain to her that you cannot ride on the door. After all, the washing machine is our faithful assistant, and it must be protected.
