How urban life differs from rural: pros and cons

City and village are antonymic words, and all people can easily explain how the urban lifestyle differs from the rural one. However, is this explanation correct? At first glance, it seems that the difference between a village and a city is obvious, but for many it is based on stereotypes.

How urban life differs from rural

At the end of the 20th century, one could say that living in a village is uncomfortable compared to the city. Today, thanks to modern technologies, conditions can be created in rural areas no worse than in cities. However, this requires significant costs, therefore, until now, life in the countryside and the city has a number of serious differences:

1. There is no large-scale production in the villages, while factories, factories, industrial and commercial facilities are located in the cities. They also exist outside cities, but not in villages, but at least in urban-type settlements. In the villages, subsistence farming prevails. Despite the construction of low-rise buildings, the main housing stock there are private buildings with a plot for planting.
2. If in the past the villagers worked only on the land, today they work in small enterprises of various specializations. These are all kinds of workshops and small workshops that are also in the city. However, the difference lies in the level of wages - in the countryside it is several times less.
3. It is difficult to choose a suitable specialty and get a job in villages. There are no outstanding architects and engineers, academics or aircraft designers. This is due to the lack of working conditions for talented villagers.
4. The city has a modern developed infrastructure. It implies the presence of a transport system, modern medical institutions, schools, universities, retail facilities, etc. The infrastructure in the village leaves much to be desired.
5. In the city, anyone can find entertainment for every taste. You can visit the theater, art galleries, sports matches, concerts. For a city dweller, all this is in the order of things, but for a rural dweller, it is a rare holiday.

One of the significant advantages of the city over the village is its well-developed infrastructure.

The spiritual component takes an important place in the way of life of the villagers. It differs significantly from the city one:

1. The villagers are very friendly with each other. They have strong family and neighborhood relationships. And in the city, people often do not know those who live next door to them.
2. All rural residents have approximately the same social status. There is no material or cultural divide between members of society. Even doctors and teachers in the countryside are much closer to ordinary villagers than their urban counterparts are to the working class.
3. Villagers communicate sincerely with each other and always strive for mutual assistance. Residents of cities, in turn, in most cases treat each other with indifference.
4. Rural youth are trying to go to the city and gain a foothold there, but they love their small homeland and, if possible, try to visit their relatives. But when residents of smaller ones move to big cities, they may not remember the city of their childhood for years.

The rural population is more friendly than the urban

Pros and cons of rural life

For many people, life in the village is associated with a lack of comfort. However, there are city dwellers who deliberately move to the village, and this is because rural life is good in its own way and has many advantages:

• good ecology. Thanks to natural nature, clean air and water, villagers feel good, healthy sleep and excellent mood;
• all residents of the village have a personal plot, therefore, the villagers always have ecologically clean vegetables and fruits on their table;
• villagers can afford to have livestock and always consume fresh milk, eggs and meat;
• in the village, all people know each other, so you can easily make good friends there;
• low real estate prices;
• an atmosphere of calm reigns in the village: neighbors do not bother, cars rarely pass and no one makes noise on the street.

The most important advantage of life in the village is a positive environmental situation.

There are also many disadvantages of rural life:

• little room for development. Young people try to get an education in the city and find work there;
• there is no entertainment in the village. There is no way to visit a large shopping center, go to an amusement park, a festival or a concert. There is no variety of children's clubs in the village either;
• villagers have to do a lot of routine work. They take care of the plot and the animals, and if something breaks in the house, they have to fix it themselves;
• the village lacks the amenities familiar to a city dweller. There is not always running water, the toilet is often outside, and instead of a shower, you have to heat the bath. There are also frequent power outages;
• villagers love to take an interest in the life of their neighbors, so it is unlikely that they will be able to live separately in the village.

Pros and cons of city life

Many rural residents, especially young people, tend to live in the city, since there are a lot of advantages of city life:

• in the city you can spend your leisure time in a variety of ways;
• it is easier to find a high-paying job;
• there is an opportunity to make useful contacts;
• high level of medicine. In round-the-clock pharmacies, you can always buy the necessary medicines, and in addition to state polyclinics, there are private medical institutions;
• many different children's clubs, schools and studios;
• the city has a lot of opportunities for development. Free trainings and master classes are regularly held;
• developed transport system, good roads and housing with all amenities.

In some megacities there is a frantic pace of life, so it will be very difficult for people who are accustomed to a measured existence to adapt to it.

There are also many cons in the city:

• many city dwellers live in rented apartments, which is why housing costs and utility bills can be half or more of the budget;
• because of the fast pace of life, you have to eat fast food, which is harmful to health and leads to obesity;
• the road to work or school can take several hours a day;
• poor environment due to the large number of cars and industrial waste;
• costs are higher in the city, as entertainment is mostly paid.

The rural way of life differs significantly from the urban one. Villagers often strive to move to cities, but city dwellers sometimes decide to move to rural areas. Everywhere has its pros and cons, so each person decides for himself where he would like to live.
