The fact that the life of a Russian man in the street and a foreigner is different is understandable. But some familiar things for us can plunge our foreign friends into shock and stupor.

Lace tulle

Foreigners are much more practical than us and they even plan their interior decoration from a functional point of view. Therefore, they do not understand why there should be meters of transparent tulle hanging on the windows, which is also so difficult to remove and hang back.

Of course, in Western countries you can see blackout curtains, but they are primarily needed in order to close the windows at night and hide from the light of street lamps. And even more often this function is performed by blinds or "Roman shades", which are easy to care for.

Slippers

Offering slippers to guests is a primordial Russian tradition. Foreigners sincerely do not understand why they should wear shoes in the house, and even someone else's. In many foreign countries, in principle, it is not customary to take off your shoes when entering a house from the street. Firstly, this is due to the dry warm climate, especially in the southern states, and secondly, the cleanliness that is present there on the streets.

Even if foreigners take off their shoes, they prefer to walk around the house barefoot or in socks. In Russia, slippers have become practically a symbol of home comfort. Now in stores you can find warm winter models, summer ones, and fantasy ones in the form of animals and other characters.

When shopping, foreigners use disposable paper bags that can then be recycled or cloth bags. In our country, almost every second family still has a bag with packages in the kitchen, which most often lie "dead weight" and, moreover, harm the environment.

Foreigners, in principle, do not use soap in bars, and laundry soap is a real curiosity for them. Their homes have long used antibacterial liquid soap with a pleasant scent.

Western guests are even more surprised when they learn that we use laundry soap not only for washing, but also in the country, for treating wounds, as a cosmetic, etc.

Plastic jars with cereals

Unlike us, residents of Western countries do not particularly like cereals, preferring to use vegetables as a side dish, and the same buckwheat is very difficult to find even in Russian stores.

If foreigners buy cereals, they store them in factory-made paper packaging, because the use of plastic for them is disrespect for the environment.
