Time is running out, but, as luck would have it, it is jeans - the most beloved, comfortable and demanded clothing - that dry the longest. How to dry jeans properly

Denim clothing has become a part of everyday life and has taken the most important place in our wardrobes. And there is nothing surprising in this: such trousers are reliable, practical, they can be worn at home, put on for a walk, on a hike, in a club and even to work, if there is no strictly established dress code. Jeans have to be washed often, but they dry longer than other clothes. In addition, you can get into denim pants in the rain or spill water or some kind of drink on yourself. Walking in wet trousers is uncomfortable, unpleasant, and sometimes unacceptable. In such cases, it is especially important to dry the jeans as quickly as possible. The problem is that denim is a very dense and tough fabric, which makes it difficult to dry.

You can take advantage of high and extreme high temperatures - use an iron, oven, hot air heater or hairdryer to dry - but they are not suitable if the jeans are made from thin or stretch fabric. As you know, under the influence of heat, the material loses its elasticity.

Drying your jeans after washing in the washing machine can be accelerated by setting the maximum spin speed. This will not affect the quality of the fabric, but excess moisture will be removed and the drying time will be significantly reduced.

The maximum spin function in the washing machine will help you to significantly speed up the drying process of jeans

The easiest way to dry an individual wet spot is when you've just spilled water on yourself. It is enough to iron it with an iron or blow it with a hairdryer.

The matter becomes more complicated if we are not talking about pure water, but about juice, sweet soda, tea or coffee. In this case, you must first wash the clothes so that there are no stains, and then proceed to drying. If you iron a juice or coffee stain with an iron, it is very likely that it will remain with you forever.

Ways to dry jeans quickly even after washing

Outdoors

The easiest way to dry jeans is to hang them outside or on the balcony. Natural drying in warm weather, fresh wind and strong sunlight is the most convenient and correct, and it will take no more than 2 hours. This is actually the perfect drying method that won't damage your clothes.

Towels and hairdryer

Freshly washed jeans are unlikely to be quickly dried with just a hairdryer, but if you took them out of the machine after the maximum spin, then this option is worth trying.

  1. Lay the jeans evenly on a large, dry towel. Roll everything up in a tight tourniquet.
  2. When the towel gets wet, replace it with a different one. Repeat until there is no moisture on the next towel.
  3. Now hang the jeans on a rope or lay them out on a flat surface, for example, on a table. Take a hair dryer, turn it on at full power, and direct a jet of hot air onto your clothes, keeping the device about 30 centimeters apart.
  4. To speed up drying, blow-dry your jeans on all sides. You can even turn them inside out and back a couple of times to dry the seams more thoroughly.

Drying with a hair dryer will take you about 1 hour. Try to use this method as little as possible: exposure to too hot dry air negatively affects the quality of denim.

There is another, more tricky way to dry jeans with a hair dryer:

  1. Place the damp pants on a flat surface with a heavy-duty cloth.
  2. Bend the top and fix it with something heavy, for example, books, to block the exit to the air flow. Do the same with one of the legs.
  3. Put the hair dryer in the socket of the bottom of the second leg and turn it on at full power.

    Jeans can be dried by directing a stream of air from a hairdryer to the bell of the leg

  4. Change your pant legs every 5 minutes to keep the fabric from overheating. And the hair dryer needs rest, otherwise it will burn out.
  5. So alternately dry each leg a few times until dry.

On heating devices

In the cold season, when the heating is on in the apartments, you can easily use hot batteries or electric heaters. Do not forget about fire safety measures: do not leave jeans on the heater for a long time.

  1. Turn the washed jeans inside out, straighten them and place them on the heater so that they come into contact with its surface as much as possible.

    You can not only hang your jeans on the heater, but also arrange them in this way

  2. Flip your jeans every 10-15 minutes. So they dry better on all sides, and white streaks do not form on the fabric from drying out.

In the oven

This method, strange at first glance, is considered the most effective and fastest, but it will require caution. Firstly, jeans should not be kept near an open fire if we are talking about an oven in a gas stove, or too close to a heating element if the oven is electric. Secondly, the oven and its door must be clean so that the jeans do not get dirty or saturated with food odors.

A gas or electric oven will help you dry your jeans faster

Procedure:

  1. Preheat the oven to medium temperature.
  2. Open the oven door, hang jeans on it, straightening them as straight as possible. During the drying process, the door must be constantly ajar and in one position. Flip the jeans to the other side every 10 minutes.

You can dry your jeans without hanging them on the door, but right inside the oven. This method is more extreme, it is suitable only for thick cotton denim without elastane threads and synthetics in the composition.

  1. Fold the item so that it does not take up much space and place it on the wire rack. The door must be ajar so that generated steam can escape unhindered.
  2. The jeans need to be turned over and folded with the other side out every 10 minutes so that they dry evenly.

Iron

You can use an iron. This method is simple and quick, but it is not suitable for very wet trousers, as whitish or glazed streaks may appear on the fabric.

  1. Pre-dry your jeans in sunlight or a battery.
  2. When the garment is only slightly damp, turn it inside out, and lay it on the ironing board.
  3. Iron your jeans slowly and thoroughly without using the steam function. Iron through dry cheesecloth, folded in several layers, or a piece of clean cotton cloth. You will need several pieces of cloth. As soon as one is moisturized, immediately change it to another to speed up the drying process.
  4. Iron the pants in this way several times from the front and from the wrong side.

Iron the jeans thoroughly with an iron from the wrong side, and then from the front side.

As you can see, all methods of drying denim trousers, even quite extreme ones, one way or another, will require time and effort from you. It is really good to dry only small damp spots in 5-10 minutes. But, at least, you can significantly speed up the process, especially if the weather conditions do not leave the opportunity to quickly dry jeans in a natural way, hanging them outside on a warm sunny day.

The life hack in the case of wet jeans is that you can competently combine the described methods with each other to get excellent dry jeans. For example:

  • first wring out the pants in a typewriter (5-10 minutes);
  • then remove excess moisture with towels (10 minutes);
  • dry with a hairdryer (15 minutes);
  • when the fabric is no longer very damp, use an iron or oven (30 minutes).
