Once, due to a lack of experience, I advised my friend to transfer her cat, prone to allergies, to "Origen" products, since I myself gave it to my animals. As a result, six months later, the cat developed liver problems and urolithiasis. I would not blame the feed for this, but still I would advise you to refrain from a sharp transition from economy and premium class to holistic "Origen". This is not an isolated case of deterioration in health with a seemingly balanced diet. Cats are conservative, their internal organs have time to get used to low-quality food, so a sudden transition is dangerous for adult animals. The manufacturer recommends using Orijen Fit & Trim dry food if your cat has problems with excess weight. A colleague of mine once complained that she had already tried all the food, but her cat's fur was breaking up and itching. Visits to veterinarians were unsuccessful: they advised to change the diet and switch to natural products, but this did not suit the owner. She was afraid that the cat would not get enough vitamins. I advised giving the animal an Orijen Tundra to either be sure that the allergy is the cause, or to continue examining the cat. After changing feed, everything went away within 2 weeks.

If you have health problems, a ready-made diet can cause a deterioration, since it contains a lot of protein and fat. Often, food becomes the cause of malaise when you suddenly switch from more budgetary products to holistic products.

Which is better: "Origen" or "Akana"?

There are significant differences between these lines of holistic-class feed:

1. In "Origen" feed the meat content reaches 85%, in the case of "Akana" products the figures are more modest - 50-75%.
2. In ready-made rations "Origen" the amount of proteins is 38-44%, in food "Akana" - 29-35%.
3. The share of fresh (non-raw) meat in Origen products is 66%. For "Akana" feeds the indicator is lower: 33–50%.
4. Origen formulas use many types of meat (over 5). There is no such variety in "Akana" feeds.
