Tradition or empty superstition: why can't you pour through your hand?

Some superstitions are so closely intertwined in our life that we no longer think about their history and meaning. For example, if someone at a feast starts pouring alcohol through their hand, they will most likely be stopped and corrected, because "there is such a sign." But where did this prohibition come from and what kind of danger does it protect?

A history of superstition

The superstition about hand pouring has its roots in the Middle Ages. At that time, people, especially the rich and noble, solved many problems by killing unwanted people. But doing it in the open was dangerous, so the killers resorted to various tricks, for example, injecting poison when no one was seeing. There have been cases when the poison was in the ring. Pouring through the hand, we turn it over with the palm up, which means that in this way you can easily pour the poison from the ring into the glass.

Poor people did not pour through the hand in order to save money, because this way it is much easier to spill the drink. Those who spilled milk or water while working in the field received less, which means that everyone tried to be as careful as possible.

Hand pouring signs

There are such signs among the people:

  • the life of the one who poured through the hand will change for the worse. Grief will come to his house: illness, job loss, divorce, even death;
  • a person who drinks a drink poured through his hand will get sick;
  • if a couple in love was poured through the hand, then their family life will not work out, there will be constant scandals;
  • a pregnant woman who has drunk such a drink will find it difficult to bear and give birth to a child;
  • pouring through the hand of an unmarried girl, you will deprive her of the opportunity to build a family. All novels will be frivolous and short-lived;
  • if you pour yourself, you could lose your luck forever. If you pour others, you give them your life energy, and in return you get their problems.

The rationale behind the ban

It is difficult to find a logical basis for the signs of pouring drinks through the hand. However, you shouldn't do that. First, some people consider this to be bad form and will probably correct you. Secondly, when you pour through your hand, the chance of spilling the drink is higher, so it is simply not rational.

When a person pours through their hand, they are more likely to spill the drink.

The people say that pouring through the hand is by no means possible, since you will bring trouble on yourself and on the person to whom you pour. It's up to you to believe in an omen or not, but do not forget that in society it is still not accepted to do this.
