Laughter, tears and 3000 devils, or "Again, those Russians!"

Russians
Russians

We call this nonsense a song, but for some reason foreigners do not want to understand the mysterious Russian soul, coming up with some fables about drunken bears walking along the roads and playing balalaikas, or about the all-powerful Russian hackers. Or maybe there is no smoke without fire and they are somehow right? What are these crazy Russians like, that is, we, through the eyes of foreigners?

Russian style

Once upon a time, when our country was still part of the great empire called the Soviet Union, foreigners noted how poorly dressed our people were. The gray and dull clothes of the children were especially striking. Now, it would seem, everything has changed. In stores, you can buy great clothes and look pretty decent. But the opinions of representatives of other countries with minor amendments remained the same for some reason. Yes, a stern Russian man in a hat with earflaps and a sheepskin coat, covered with snow, is already a classic of the genre. But we still create images that only cause a smile and bewilderment. Take the latest mainstream fashion of wearing socks with sandals. The Europeans would hardly have thought of this without our help. And we seem to have no idea that such a "stylistic" decision looks ridiculous.

Sandals with socks - this is such an awkward fashion now

Another feature that greatly surprises the inhabitants of Europe is the maximum naked bodies of our tourists on the beaches. In Western countries, women after 40 years, as a rule, dress in closed swimsuits. We, who are accustomed to the harsh climate and winter cold, regardless of age and physique, know for sure that once a year, for 2 weeks of vacation, it is necessary to take all ultraviolet light from the sun and radically change the color of the skin in all its parts.

Minimalism in beachwear does not pass by Russian men either. Well, it doesn't matter that narrow swimming trunks are almost invisible because of the huge belly. We can't match the European fashion with their beach shorts!

However, our men wear shorts perfectly in the city, including in offices, conquering the charming half of humanity with a new and unique "business style". Well, how else, then? It's hot. Anyway, it is now in trend. They walk like that all over the world.

Girls in the city are not shy either. Translucent clothing is generally the norm. But why do they show underwear, foreigners wonder, contemplating thongs, in all their glory peeking out from under jeans.

Oh, those thongs!

In the summer, women prefer bright outfits with large prints. And no one is embarrassed that such clothes make them look fat, older and not suitable for everyone.

In winter, Russian women, on the other hand, wear dark clothes. It's more practical. Clothes should not be branded. And foreigners simply do not know what Russian slush and dirt roads are.

Features of the national cuisine

Foreigners are also surprised by our favorite dishes:

  • Red soup, proudly called borsch.
  • An incomprehensible substance called aspic.
  • Combination of cooked and canned vegetables in a vinaigrette.
  • “And the Russians drink it all down with jelly - a drink that is better to eat with a spoon,” one foreigner said on his blog.

However, in any national cuisine there is something outlandish. This is called its peculiarity, uniqueness and distinguishes it from all others.

Great and powerful…

If ordinary foreigners just look at us and are perplexed, then those who decided to comprehend the power of our language had a very hard time. Here are just a few examples that will no longer make you laugh, but put any foreigner into a stupor:

  • Try to explain to a foreigner a simple Russian answer: “No, probably”.
  • "Don't stand over your soul." And how is it to stand above the soul?
  • Only in Russian is it possible to formulate a question of five consecutive letters of the alphabet: "Where is the hedgehog?"
  • Our particle does NOT sometimes have a "huge" value. Just compare: “the kettle cools down for a long time” and “the kettle does not cool down for a long time”. It's funny, but the meaning is the same.
  • And what a wonderful play on words here: “I oversalted the borscht” and “overdid it with salt”.
  • Have you ever wondered that the opposite of the word “antonym” is a synonym?
  • Only in Russian does the phrase "hands to feet and forward" carry some meaning, and not just a set of letters.
  • And one more paradox of the Russian language: the clock can go when it is lying, and stand when it is hanging.
  • But most of all, foreigners are shocked by our incomprehensible phrases like this: "behind a sandy scythe, a lop-eared scythe fell under a sharp scythe of a woman with a scythe." What are we talking about?

Hares mow the grass … in what other country in the world is this possible?

You can't understand Russia with your mind, you can't measure it with a common yardstick … And what do you think, why do foreigners call us crazy Russians?
