What to do if you forgot your iCloud password

Anyone can forget the password for an account. Fortunately, Apple provides the ability to reset and recover your Apple ID password if the user has forgotten it. After completing this procedure, you can immediately use all iCloud services.

How to recover iCloud password

If you have forgotten the password from "Aykloud", then you can change it to a new one in several ways. The method you choose depends on which devices and data you still have access to.

Via email

If you can read mail messages registered as an Apple ID, then you can reset your password and set a new one through it:

1. Go to Apple's official website at iforgot.apple.com. Enter the mail that is used as your Apple ID login.

   

   On the site you will see a field for entering mail, which is the login Apple ID

2. Select the first item ("reset password"). Click Continue.

   

   At this stage, the system will offer to choose what information we will change in the account

3. Select "Receive a message by e-mail". Click Continue.

   

   If you have access to e-mail, select "Receive message by e-mail"

4. Check the email you provided in the first step. You should receive a message with a personal link, by clicking on which you can set a new password without specifying the old one.

Using security questions

Another possible method is to answer personal questions that you indicated during registration:

1. Follow the first two steps of the previous instructions.

2. Select "Answer Security Questions" as your password reset method.

   

   Security questions and answers to them are set by the user during registration

3. The system will ask you to enter the date of your birth, which you specified when creating your iCloud account. Please enter it in the format DDMMYY. Click Continue.

   

   If you do not specify the correct date of birth, the system will not allow you to answer security questions

4. You will see several questions that you selected during registration. Indicate the answers to them.

   

   Test questions, as a rule, are personal in nature, and it is almost impossible to forget the answers to them.

5. If you answered the questions correctly, the system will prompt you to enter and confirm a new password.

Using other Apple devices (two-factor authentication)

Two-factor authentication connects to Apple devices and serves to improve security measures. If it is enabled for your account on at least one device, then you will not be able to recover the password via mail or security questions.

Two-factor authentication is enabled in Settings - Apple ID - Password & Security

If you have an iPhone, iPad, iWatch or iPod, which is logged into the system with this Apple ID, then you can recover your password using it:

1. Go to iforgot.apple.com and enter your mail. Click Continue.

2. If you have enabled authentication through other devices, the system should prompt you to enter the registered phone number. Enter the number associated with your Apple ID. The site leaves a hint for you - the last two digits of the number.

   

   Phone number verification is required to make sure the account is yours

3. After you click "Continue", your devices from Apple will be prompted to change your password.

   

   The offer to change the password will appear on top of other running applications

4. Tap "Allow" (or Allow if your language is English). Set and save a new password.
