Yandex Browser for Windows: features and disadvantages
The program from Yandex is suitable for Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7. Just like Google Chrome, Opera and Amigo, the browser is based on the Chromium open source engine, which allows you to work quickly without squeezing content of pages. If the connection is slow, you can turn on the Turbo mode: it reduces video and images in real time, speeding up the download process.
Browser advantages:
- security. Built-in "Protect" technology encrypts and protects data from theft and hacking. The browser checks the downloaded files immediately after downloading, and all visited sites are scanned against the base of malicious viruses;
- "Smart line". If you enter the name of a popular site in the address bar, its URL will appear: for example, when you ask for “contact”, the browser will automatically replace it with the address www.vk.com;
- viewing files. The browser opens documents in doc, docx, rtf, ppt, pptx, pdf formats. You can use it as a complete reading program;
- "Turbo" mode. On a slow connection, activate the "Turbo" mode, and the browser will start compressing images, videos and other page content;
-
scoreboard. By default, the browser displays visual bookmarks on the start page. They contain the sites you visit most. In addition, you can add the desired sites yourself;
Bookmarks contain a preview of the site, by clicking on which you can go to the site
-
extensions. To expand the functions of the browser or customize it for yourself, you can install free or paid add-ons, choosing from the thousands available in the catalog.
Most of the necessary extensions are already built into the browser and can be activated with one click
Yandex Browser has no particular drawbacks. You may not like the design or the browser may slow down on your device, but this is individual.
Installing Yandex Browser
The program is distributed free of charge, so you can try it right now if your computer meets the minimum system requirements.
Table: Windows System Requirements
OS version | Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7 |
CPU | Intel Pentium 4 (or higher) |
RAM | From 512 Mb |
Available disk space | From 400 Mb |
The browser is not supported on Windows Vista and XP. The rest of the system requirements are pretty low and it will run fast for most users.
