People say that it is impossible to refuel a car with a round banknote - 500 or 1,000 rubles. But not everyone explains why. Is there a rational reason for this prohibition, or is it sheer superstition? We'll find out now.

Rational explanation of signs

So, if you give a 500-ruble note at a gas station, then you should receive exactly 10.8695652 liters. But the gas station will round up to 10.86 liters. This means that the 0.0095652 liters you actually paid for, you will not receive. In terms of rubles, this, of course, is a meager amount - only about 44 kopecks. But it's still unpleasant.

Therefore, experienced motorists recommend either refueling with a card, or first voicing the displacement, and only then pay in cash. As they say, the ruble saves a penny.
