Kvass from chicory: features, benefits, contraindications

Kvass prepared on the basis of chicory has a pleasant nutty shade, which can turn out lighter or darker depending on other ingredients, rich taste, light bitterness and a peculiar, but attractive aroma.

However, the effect that this drink has on the body is much more interesting:

  • it has a beneficial effect on the intestinal microflora and the activity of the digestive tract as a whole;
  • improves the functioning of the cardiovascular and immune systems;
  • increases the body's endurance;
  • helps to cope with dysbiosis, some types of gastritis and gallstone disease - of course, provided that the patient does not forget to coordinate his diet with the doctor.

And this is not to mention that kvass perfectly copes with its main task: it quenches thirst, restores strength and perfectly refreshes.

Kvass with chicory contains many vitamins, organic acids and beneficial bacteria

However, there are several categories of people who should not take a close acquaintance with "chicory" kvass:

  • allergy sufferers, especially those with vitamin C intolerance;
  • people with serious liver and gastrointestinal tract diseases;
  • patients suffering from diabetes mellitus (chicory itself will only benefit them, but the sugar contained in kvass will not).

How to make chicory kvass

The first step is to get the chicory itself. This, of course, is not about a tall roadside plant with blue flowers, but about a brown powder, which can easily be found in the store on the next shelf with tea or coffee. An important nuance: it is desirable that the product contains no unnecessary components, for example, flavor enhancers or powdered cream. Well, then it all depends on the recipe that you decide to use.

With raisins and mint

Citric acid gives the drink an attractive sourness, which is especially good in summer heat. But you can get it - and at the same time an additional portion of vitamins - in another way. For example, using natural lemon. And if you add fresh mint and a handful of raisins to it, you get a delicious healing cocktail filled with useful substances.

You will need:

  • 3 liters of water;
  • 1 tbsp. l. chicory;
  • 20 g fresh or 3-5 g dry yeast;
  • 200 g sugar;
  • 0.5 lemon or whole fruit, depending on how much sourness you want to get;
  • 12-15 raisins;
  • 5–6 stalks of mint.
