Dispute about the ladle - is it possible to leave the ladle in the pan

Anyone out of absentmindedness or, on the contrary, for the sake of convenience, can leave the ladle in the pot with ready-made soup. But is it worth doing this? The people have already managed to come up with superstition on this topic.

Superstition about the ladle

People say that a ladle in a saucepan promises poverty. Say, if there is a saucepan of soup in the kitchen, and a ladle is bathing in it, then the family will lose their savings and stable income. Was it a simple invention to make the housewives wash the dishes more often, or was there an objective reason for this?

In fact, the reason was, and quite serious. As we all know, food can last longer in airtight containers. A pot of half-eaten soup is usually covered and sent to the refrigerator. But such a number will not work with a cooker - it will not allow the lid to close tightly, which means that the soup will turn sour faster. Sour food is money wasted. Therefore, the superstition speaks of poverty - the average family can rarely afford to regularly throw away cooked soup without harming the wallet.

In my experience, soup without a ladle, with a tightly closed lid, lives in my refrigerator for about three days. If you leave the cooker in the pan, the shelf life is reduced to about two days.

There is another superstition about the ladle. It is believed that, if left in a saucepan, it also causes fights in the family. But in fact, swearing will take place only if one of the household members is convinced that it is impossible to leave the cook in the pan, while another does it regularly. So the ladle does not portend, but rather is the cause of the quarrel.

Other rational reasons

The scoop left in the pan interferes with closing the lid to the end - we have already found this out. But this affects not only the shelf life of the soup, but also the taste of other foods in the refrigerator. Soup often has a strong aroma that can be absorbed by other food in the chamber.

Let's not forget about hygiene. On a plastic ladle (and these are the ones most often used in the home kitchen), over time, microcracks form in which harmful microorganisms live and live. If you leave such a cooker in the soup for a long time, then there is a great risk of infection with these pests and the dish itself.

If the scoop is made of low-quality plastic without increased heat resistance, then leaving it in the pan immediately after cooking is dangerous. The plastic can melt if it comes into contact with the hot edge of the pot. After such an impact, a dent or risk will remain on the handle of the ladle, and a piece of melted plastic may get into the soup itself.

Another reason to refuse such storage of a ladle is aesthetic. It is important for many people that the dish (including the stored one) is beautifully served. A ladle sticking out from under the lid does not really contribute to aesthetic pleasure.

Agree that a tightly closed saucepan looks prettier

Even if you do not believe in omens, it is better to remove the ladle from the pan. As it turned out, it badly affects both the quality of the dish and the shelf life.
