So the summer season has come to an end. The harvest has been collected, the land has been dug up, it's time to leave. Do not forget that it is better to pick up some things from the cottage, as they may not withstand low temperatures and moisture.

Blanks for the winter

Glass jars with pickles and preserves are stored at temperatures above zero, otherwise the water that is part of them will turn into ice. It increases in volume and can damage the vessel in which it is located.

Banks from frost explode, leaving without blanks and nullifying all the summer labors of summer residents.

Harvested crop

The same can be said for fresh vegetables and fruits. They feel good at a temperature of +5 - + 10 degrees, but left for the winter freeze.

And when defrosting, they become unsuitable for eating.

Seeds

Seeds that are harvested for future planting are best stored in a dry and not very cold room. Not all of them tolerate frost; moisture can cause mold and become unsuitable for planting.

Rodents often run around in empty houses, they will not miss the opportunity to feast on everything edible.

Linens

It is tempting to leave bedding at the dacha so as not to carry heavy bags into the city. But in conditions of high humidity, mold will start in sheets and duvet covers, and stains from which cannot be removed.

We'll have to buy a new one. After taking your laundry with you, you wash and dry it again to preserve it until next season.

Liquid household chemicals

Bottles with liquid soap, shampoo, fabric softener should not be left in the cold.

When the state of aggregation changes (that is, when freezing and defrosting), their properties will significantly deteriorate.

Electric tools

A screwdriver, trimmer and jigsaw should also not be kept in the country - due to dampness, the tool may rust. Of course, a dry house in the country is better than an open damp balcony of an apartment.

Therefore, if there is no storage space in the apartment, then at least the rechargeable batteries should be taken with you: with prolonged exposure to low temperatures, they will fail.

Appliances

It is easier to take small kitchen appliances (toaster, kettle, coffee grinder) with you than a refrigerator, microwave or washing machine. Large household appliances need to be prepared for the coming winter. First of all, unplug everything from the mains, defrost the refrigerator, wash and dry.

The washing machine and water heater need to be drained. It expands when it freezes and can ruin appliances. You should remove the batteries from the TV remote control - they can oxidize and render the device unusable.
