What to make a table from if you are not a carpenter: 9 resourceful ideas
A coffee table is a must-have in your home, especially if it looks like a designer item. Taking advantage of creative ideas, you can make it from scrap materials, even if you do not have professional carpentry skills.
Books and glass
In any home there are outdated books that no one will read anymore. Instead of sending them to waste paper, make a coffee table with original "book" legs.
To keep the table stable, glue the book covers with superglue. The glass can be beautifully painted or covered with matte paint.
Drawer and boards
If an unnecessary wooden box is lying around in the country, do not rush to heat the brazier with it. It can be used as a base for a country-style table, and the tabletop can be made from planks.
For a better look, all elements need to be sanded and varnished, or painted. The final touch is to put the product on casters, which you can buy at a furniture store.
Cable reel
These coils come in a variety of sizes - you can make a small bedside table, a coffee table, and a full dining table. The product must be sanded and varnished or painted.
If you put in some extra vertical supports connecting the top cover to the bottom, you get great shelves for books and magazines.
Car tires
A cute coffee table is made from a car tire. From above it is closed with a round sheet of plywood, cut to size, and wrapped with a thick bundle, secured with a glue gun.
You don't need to screw the plywood cover to the tire, but braid it with a rope separately: it will close and open, and the hollow space inside the product is useful for storing things. If desired, you can attach legs or wheels to the bottom of the creative table.
Wooden pallets
A wooden pallet will serve as an excellent preparation for a coffee table. First of all, the pallet must be washed and cleaned, and if necessary, sanded. Then it is painted or opened with varnish and placed on legs or wheels.
If you are not satisfied with too much distance between the boards, the pallet can be disassembled, and then the elements can be nailed close. For beauty, you can lay a sheet of glass of the appropriate size over the countertop.
Unnecessary boxes
If you have several boxes of fruits or vegetables - plastic or wooden, you can connect them together and equip a functional table with storage containers.
The table top will serve as a furniture board or glass. The elements are connected with glue with strong fixation and additionally secured with screws.
Barrel
A very spectacular table can be made from half a wooden barrel. The process is quite laborious, but the result is worth the effort.
The horizontal work surface is equipped with furniture shock absorbers for a smooth ride. Inside such a table there is a lot of free space for all sorts of things.
Heating battery
A very original table is obtained from an old radiator - looking at it, you do not immediately understand what the furniture is made of. The dismantled battery must be painted and mounted on casters, otherwise it will be too difficult to move.
It is better to make a sheet of tempered glass as a worktop so that the "accordion" can be seen through it. Such a table is suitable for many interiors, but most successfully it complements a loft-style design.
Suitcase
A great vintage side table can be made from an old suitcase or chest. This object is already a ready-made tabletop, which, moreover, opens - it remains to put it on legs or casters.
In a situation where the lids of the suitcase are not rigid enough, they are reinforced inside with plywood, and the poorly preserved outer upholstery is painted over with a spray bottle. If the suitcase is not too large, it is better to set it on long legs from an old chair or stool.
