The App Store also has a serious competitor to iMovie, the Splice app. In it, the user has the ability to add an unlimited number of audio tracks to the video, and his set of special effects is richer. The Splice program is indispensable for those who like to create videos from their own photos, video materials and unprotected clips from the network. But the maximum length of a movie you can create is limited to three minutes.

Cropping video

Video resizing is possible using both standard OS tools and third-party applications. The first option is more suitable for beginners who want to experiment with the design options for their footage.

Cropping with the standard iOS tool

Any version of the iOS operating system contains a standard video processing tool in the "Camera Roll" section. It is activated by capturing the rewind arrows while watching the video. By moving them left or right, the user determines the duration of the video.

After setting the desired size, click the "Crop" button and confirm saving the change. In this case, you can either replace the original video, or create a new one in another folder.

Step by step, this process looks like this:

1. Select a video and open it.
2. In the upper right corner, select the "Change" function.
3. When the storyboard opens, adjust the length of the video with the arrows. The marked area will turn yellow.
4. To complete the procedure, select the "Save" function.

Cropping with iMovie

The iMovie app provides a rich palette of options. A convenient timeline allows you to determine which parts of the video will be cut. Fragments can be copied and can be saved and used in other projects. It is also possible to resize the clip or restore the original proportions.

The algorithm for working in iMovie is as follows:

1. Select the clip for editing in the ribbon, then activate the trim option on the bottom panel.

It will not allow the user to shoot a video with the wrong frame position and will take care of saving all the necessary parameters.

The effect is achieved thanks to the smartphone's gyroscope. This miniature part automatically detects the position of the gadget and adjusts the frame to it, so that now there is no danger of spoiling the video by an accidental or deliberate flip - the application will align it as correctly as possible. In the captured video, the movements of the device will be invisible.

Add music to video

Apple's iMovies app for adding music to videos, discussed earlier, is no good. Use third party software. The simplest of these is Video Toolbox.

Overlay a melody from the standard list

To add audio to video, you need to do the following:

1. From the Video Toolbox start screen, select Video Editor.

   

   Tap the Video Editor icon

2. In the video editor window, below the video playback panel, there are the Album and Camera fields. Click on the Album icon.

   

   Select the Album option to continue

3. A list of videos available on the Camera Roll will open. Check the boxes to open in the editor.

   

   Check the video you are going to work with

4. For better visibility, switch to full screen mode by double-poking your finger in the editor window. Select the desired video quality.

If the described option does not work due to the fact that you want to add not a melody from the standard list to the video, but your favorite music from iTunes or your own melody, then use another Video Toolbox option. The algorithm of actions in this case is similar to that discussed above, but there are some differences:

1. In the step for selecting a ringtone, tap the iTunes icon.

Adapting videos for Instagram
