From the south and east, neck purses made their way to Europe, where they became more of a tribute to fashion than a practical accessory. Often, they did not store money, but jewelry, seals, religious symbols. They were supplanted by the “ancestors” of modern purses and clutches - the riot police and reticule.

When paper money became ubiquitous, neck wallets lost their meaning and almost completely disappeared to be reborn in the 20th century. This time, their main goal was to store documents, and they began to add compartments for money later.

In addition to the needs of the police and the army, the rapid development of tourism, which began in the 60s of the last century, contributed to the return of fashion to men's neck wallets. The risk of being left without a passport and money in an unfamiliar country "spurred" people to buy wallets for hidden carrying.

This formed the modern image of a men's collar wallet, which was then fixed by famous fashion designers at numerous shows.

Today, a wallet to be worn around the neck means a minimalistic casual accessory made of thin durable fabric or leather, equipped with a short strap.
