A little about Lazarevsky
Lazarevskoye, located on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus in the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation, is a district of the city of Sochi. From the center of Sochi - 42 kilometers, from Krasnodar - 135 kilometers. The distance between Moscow and the Lazarevskoye resort, which is located south of the capital, is 1.5 thousand kilometers.
The area of about 80 square kilometers is home to a multinational population - about 80 thousand people. Here, besides the Russians, there are many representatives of other peoples, namely: Adyghe, Greeks, Ukrainians, Abkhazians, Armenians, Chechens. The climate in Lazarevskoye is humid subtropical (a mixture of mountain and sea). In summer, the temperature rises to 35 degrees. Winters are mild and snowless. The swimming season ends at the end of October.
For more than a century, the beaches of the resort Lazarevskoye have been a success among vacationers from early spring to mid-autumn.
Historical reference
On the territory of the modern resort, archaeologists find evidence of ancient cultures, which are more than 4 thousand years old. Local residents were engaged in hunting and agriculture. After the victory of our troops in the Russian-Turkish War, this land became part of the Russian Empire. During the Caucasian War (in 1839), a fortification was built here with a convenient exit to the sea, protected by mountains. The construction was supervised by the admiral of the Russian fleet - M. P. Lazarev. 1839 is considered the date of birth of Lazarevsky, named after his Russian creator.
Two wars (Caucasian and Crimean) devastated the area. The development of the territory was resumed in 1869. Immigrants from Turkey formed the village of Lazarevskaya here, and the construction of a road between Novorossiysk and Sukhumi led to the development of its resort potential: residents of neighboring cities built houses for summer residence, improved the possibilities of postal services, health care and trade.
In 1954, a bust of M. P. Lazarev, the founder of the village, was erected in the busiest place of the resort
How to get to Lazarevsky
There are several ways to get to Lazarevskoye.
- The easiest and most reliable way to deliver tourists and vacationers is by rail. Lazarevskoye has a railway station, built in 1918, which receives several dozen long-distance trains and commuter trains every day.
- The nearest international airport to Lazarevskoye is located in the Adler district of the city of Sochi - 95 kilometers from the resort. This distance is covered by suburban and passing trains, the Lastochka express train, as well as by motor transport along a mountain road. Travel time is about two hours.
- In summer, buses from the capital and Russian cities regularly run along the federal highway A-4 ("Don"), along which the most experienced motorists also come to the resort. Moving from Moscow takes 24 hours.

Attractions Lazarevsky
The small territory of the Lazarevsky district is rich in historical and cultural attractions. Let's dwell on the most interesting ones:
- Lazarevsky Ethnographic Museum;
- Center of National Cultures named after K. S. Mazlumyan;
- temples of Lazarevsky.
Lazarevsky ethnographic museum
The Lazarevsky Ethnographic Museum, founded in 1990, is a branch of the Museum of the History of the City of Sochi. The peculiarity of its exposition is the demonstration of archaeological finds and household items that tell about the original culture of the inhabitants of only the Lazarevsky district. A good addition is the collection of ancient documents, engravings and photographs characterizing the peaceful and military periods of the village's existence.
The museum was housed in the original three-story mansion of a local wealthy merchant, built at the beginning of the 20th century, in the halls of which thematic exhibitions, public events, and educational excursions for children are organized.

Center for National Cultures named after K. S. Mazlumyan
The Center for National Cultures named after K. S. Mazlumyan is not a museum, but a platform for holding cultural events: concerts, festivals, contests of folk art. The idea of creating an organization that would strengthen the community of the multinational population of the region emerged in the last decade of the last century from Krikor Saakovich Mazlumyan, a native of the Lazarevsky region.

Performances by choirs and dance groups, holding national holidays, performances by amateur theaters and exhibitions of works of decorative and applied art - this is not the whole list of activities of this institution. The center conducts scientific and educational work, helping the residents and guests of Lazarevskoye to get acquainted with the folklore characteristics and traditions of all nationalities of the resort, organizes lectures, thematic evenings and master classes for children and adolescents.
The sculptural composition "Angel of Peace", installed in 2008 on the square of the Lazarev Center for National Cultures, symbolizes friendship between all residents of the region

Religious buildings of Lazarevsky
The religious buildings of Lazarevsky are located throughout the resort. Two of them are located in the immediate vicinity of the Lazarevskaya railway station.
- The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in 1903 in the center of the village. This complex, consisting of two church buildings, outbuildings, a library, a Sunday school and a museum of the history of religion, was completely restored by 2004. Address: st. Shevchenko, house 1. Open from 8:00 to 20:00 for everyone.
- The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, located at the exit from Lazarevskoye, is a new church. The date of its construction is 1999. The church, made according to the traditions of ancient Russian architecture, is open to the public until 18:00. Address: Sochi highway, house 28.

I know well the place where the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker now stands. The Psezuapse river flows nearby, flowing into the Black Sea. We rested at the Chaika base in 1984 and used the beach at the junction of the river and the sea. The sand brought by the mountain stream made the coastline wide and comfortable. The trip was in mid-June, so the sea water has not yet warmed up. We sunbathed on the beach until lunchtime, and then walked around the neighborhood. Climbing the nearest hill, we admired the bright greenery and blooming magnolias. I well remember their exquisite scent: the crimson flowers smelled like roses, and the yellow ones smelled like lemon. I also really liked the center of Lazarevsky - the streets were clean and well-groomed, and some bright "paradise" birds fluttered across the tropical bushes. One of the cloudy days we went to the Sochi arboretum. The mountain road there was dizzying and unsafe. We went up to the botanical garden by cable car, and went back down on foot, examining the park. I really liked the numerous roses, bamboo thickets and a banana grove.
Recreation and entertainment for parents with children
Lazarevsky district has great opportunities for family recreation and leisure. There is everything here: parks, dolphinariums, penguinariums, aquatic centers. The fabulous complex "Berendeevo Tsarstvo", recently opened on the territory of the nature reserve, invites you to an unusual journey, in which the beauty of natural landscapes is closely intertwined with classical literary images.
Park of culture and rest in Lazarevskoye
Lazarevsky Park of Culture and Rest is spread over an area of more than 5 hectares. Founded in 1970, it has become the cultural and entertainment center of a resort surrounded by lush subtropical greenery. Attractions, playrooms, a climbing wall, a playground with ropes, a wax museum, a dolphinarium, an oceanarium, a penguinarium and many other entertainments await visitors of all ages.
The Ferris wheel, which is considered the tallest in Russia, is delightful. The park has a cinema, a concert hall, a summer stage, and a small water park. There are cafes and bars where parents can relax, leaving children under the supervision of animators and clowns.

Park address: st. Pavlova, house 2. On foot from the city center you can walk in 10 minutes, focusing on the Ferris wheel. The entrance to the park is free, but the use of each attraction costs from 150 to 350 rubles for an adult. Children under three years old accompanied by their parents are served free of charge.
Aquapark "Starfish"
Aquapark "Starfish" is a large water complex equipped in the best European traditions. It is considered the largest on the coast of Sochi. 11 slides have been built in the open sea water pools, which are suitable for both children and adults: for those who want to tickle their nerves there are dizzying slides, and the smallest visitors are offered safe "umbrellas" and "mushrooms".
The heated pools of the aqua center allow you to take beneficial water treatments when the sea is cool or stormy. Sun loungers and towels are available for those wishing to sunbathe. There is a cafe, photographers are provided.

Oceanarium "Tropical Amazon"
The Tropical Amazon Oceanarium, built in 2008, contains a large collection of not only exotic fish, but also animals living in southern latitudes. "Tropical Amazon" and the "Starfish" water park constitute a single entertainment complex for adults and children.
Modern equipment allows you to look very closely at unusual representatives of the fauna in conditions that best match their habitat in the wild. Here you can meet several thousand individuals. The oceanarium is divided into zones where you can see outlandish fish, a variety of reptiles, colorful birds and chinstrap penguins.
The halls of the aquarium are decorated with live plants from the shores of the Amazon, fake rocks and waterfalls, which creates the effect of a small trip through the tropical jungle.

The Living Contact with Nature Children's Zoo, which opened in 2010, is just steps from the Tropical Amazon. He has a small area, which provides for visiting parents with small children. There are goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, raccoons, squirrels, pigs, birds.
Safe pets live in open enclosures or roam freely in the halls. They can be fed and stroked, and some can be picked up. Forest animals live in cages with warning signs.

Berendee's kingdom
"Berendeevo kingdom" is a nature reserve located in the north of Lazarevskoye. In addition to visiting the picturesque mountain waterfalls, streams and bridges, which bear the names of the characters in the tale of A. N. Ostrovsky "The Snow Maiden", you can admire the colorful wooden sculptures, swim in clean lakes and go fishing. The complex has a souvenir shop and cafe.
The walking tour of the organized groups ends with a children's show with the participation of spectators. Independent tourists can easily figure out the excursion route - there are signs and plates with information. The checkout offers a detailed diagram of the inspection sequence.

Natural attractions of Lazarevskoe
The main "wealth" of the resort is the Black Sea with its many kilometers of beaches. And the lush subtropical vegetation gives Lazarevsky a unique charm. Gorges, freshwater lakes, colorful waterfalls can be seen on the entire Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar Territory. Let's dwell on the ones closest to the center of Lazarevskoye, which you can visit on your own.
- The Volkonsky dolmen, located 10 kilometers from the Lazarevsky railway station, is considered its most unique attraction. Built over 9 thousand years ago, the dolmen is older than the Egyptian pyramids. On the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus, there are a significant number of such primitive monuments, but the Volkonsky domain differs from them in its design feature - it is not assembled from separate stone slabs, but carved out of rock. Near the ancient building there is a spring, the waters of which are rich in hydrogen sulfide. The forest and picturesque rocks surrounding the monument are also worthy of a close inspection. You can get here by buses, following in the direction of Sochi # 152, 158. Entrance to the territory - 100 rubles.
- Mamedovo Gorge is a cascade of several waterfalls, the cold waters of which are considered healing and rejuvenating. In the gorge, which is located in the valley of the Kuapse River, there is a protected forest and beautiful meadows for recreation. You can get there by bus # 162, which departs from the Lazarevskaya station several times a day, and get off at the Mamedovo Gorge stop. Entrance fee to the reserve - 100 rubles
- The Svir Gorge is located in the northern part of Lazarevskoye at the mouth of the Svirka River. On its picturesque territory there are several waterfalls and mountain lakes, as well as two dolmens, one of which ("Slava") organically blended into the beauty of the landscape. You can get there by city bus number 70. The entrance ticket is 100 rubles.
- The crab gorge, which is located in the area of the Psezuapse river, is interesting for the abundance of caves, grottoes and reservoirs of karst origin. Small crabs are found in freshwater lakes. You can get here from the center of Lazarevsky on foot. Address: st. Kalarash (further along the signpost). Entrance to the territory - 100 rubles.

Seasonality of tourism and travel tips
The largest flow of tourists to the Lazarevskoye resort arrives from June to the end of September. During this time, you can actively take sea baths, sunbathe, as well as visit local cultural and natural attractions. It is desirable that the duration of the trip was at least a week. This is especially important for parents with children, as the body of babies takes longer to adapt to climate change.
In Lazarevskoye, tourists are welcomed by numerous sanatoriums, boarding houses and guest houses. Pre-book and pay for the room (in some accommodation facilities there is a practice of making an advance payment for one day). At the Lazarevsky railway station, where local residents offer their services, you can consider and choose the most budget accommodation options.
On winter holidays, large sanatoriums and cultural institutions organize colorful events, so Lazarevskoye is often visited during the New Year holidays.

Tourists and vacationers can be advised the following:
- in the summer, arm yourself with remedies for sunburn;
- Bring comfortable shoes and clothing for traveling around the area;
- in autumn and winter, take warm clothes (the sea is often stormy, and the sea wind is quite fresh);
- in memory of the trip, buy souvenirs at Lazarevskoye (items from relict boxwood are especially interesting: they smell good and heal);
- eat right to avoid food poisoning, do not buy food from random people;
- boil tap water (although it comes from clean mountain rivers) or buy bottled water;
- observe the cleanliness of the coastline and the protected forests of the resort;
- try to make your vacation active - all conditions are created for this on the beaches of the resort;
- for the convenience of getting around the city, buy a Lazarevsky card.
Tourists, using the map, can easily build any route along Lazarevsky
Video: active rest on lazarevskie beaches
I often visit Lazarevskoye on official business. This usually happens in February. Once I observed unusual phenomena - severe frost and snowfall. There was so much snow that he cut the wires in the vicinity of Lazarevskoye. Our train, which was carrying an electric locomotive, stopped near the Lazarevskaya station. We waited for two hours in a dark carriage for the locomotive to come. We were entertained by the conductors - they fed us oranges and warmed us with homemade wine. Arriving late at night, we saw Lazarevskoye, immersed in darkness. Only a petrol station operating on an isolated power supply was lit. In Lazarevskoye, we always stayed in one small central hotel. We were met by the administrator with candles in her hands, who said that she had lived in Lazarevskoye for more than 20 years, but did not remember such a cataclysm. I was glad that there was both cold and warm water. But I had to take a shower and dine by candlelight. The evening was very romantic.
Reviews of tourists
The excursion routes of the Lazarevsky region are a pleasant addition to the rest on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus. They serve to get acquainted with local sights, natural features of the region, delight and leave a lot of impressions.
