7 easy ways to humidify dry air
For comfort in the house, you need to monitor the humidity level with a hygrometer or a glass of water. Dry air negatively affects an adult, a child, indoor plants and pets, that is, all living things.
Dry clothes in the room
Choosing the option of drying clothes on batteries, a special folding dryer or a rope indoors, you increase the percentage of moisture, performing two useful actions at once. It is important to know that the less chemicals on your clothes, the better: you will not breathe in the microparticles of detergents that enter our lungs. The pleasant smell of fabric softener all over the room is not very helpful.
Leaving the bathroom door ajar
During bathing or taking a shower, a large amount of moisture accumulates in the bath, which goes into the ventilation almost instantly if it works correctly. By leaving the bathroom door open, we allow moisture to enter other rooms, spreading, filling the space around.
Put a jar of water on the windowsill
By filling a jar or other suitable vessel with water and placing this simple humidifier on the windowsill, closer to the radiator, we will allow the moisture from the vessel to evaporate and spread throughout the room, refreshing it. A couple of drops of your favorite essential oil will be a welcome addition in these situations.
Do not forget to periodically wash the containers and change the water. Vessels with water can be placed not only on the windowsill, all heat sources in the immediate vicinity are suitable.
Get houseplants
There are a great many different types of plants in our world; beautiful, smelling good and healthy. Now each of us, to one degree or another, has access to the acquisition of this diversity.
Watering indoor plants saturates them, gives the necessary level of moisture, and the plants, in turn, evaporate moisture through the leaves, removing the dryness of the air. There are plants that absorb two or three percent of the liquid, assimilating it for their own benefit, and the rest of the liquid evaporates again into the surrounding space.
If you want to humidify a room with indoor plants, you should consider other home humidification options as well. This is necessary, since flowers also need a moist environment, and it will be very difficult for them to cope on their own: the leaves will begin to turn yellow, and the plant will experience difficulties in development. Household ferns, especially cyperus and the well-known hibiscus, evaporate the most moisture.
Do not turn off the boiling kettle immediately
While the kettle is boiling, the multicooker is working, and the pan is cooking hard, the kitchen is filled with steam; we all noticed it. If you let the kettle boil for a minute longer, you will feel the air filling with warm moisture, be it a kettle on the stove, or an electric one. A container of freshly boiling water can be moved to the stand wherever you want, and it will moisturize your home a little more.
When cooking fried food or using the oven, the air sometimes gets dry. You can put water on the stove, and when it boils, turn on a low heat, allowing the room to absorb moisture.
Set up aquarium
Aquariums have long been recognized as an excellent interior object in themselves. If your favorite fish and other interesting underwater inhabitants swim there, the decoration of the room will become even more pleasant. Houseplants will feel much better next to the aquarium, and the overall humidity in the room will rise significantly. Add water regularly, preferably filtered, and clean the glass.
If periodic maintenance of the aquarium and its inhabitants is not scary, this is a great option. In case of unwillingness to take care of the fish, the aquarium can be considered only as an interior object and decorated with exotic plants and algae.
We ventilate the room more often
Airing has long been included in the list of mandatory rituals in all government institutions, especially in sanatoriums and hospitals. Airing does not require much effort from you: all you need to do is open the windows and allow fresh air to clear the room, dust and microbes to leave the apartment, and moisture from the street to find refuge in it. And this is an excellent, irreplaceable and time-tested method of caring for a person's place of residence.
