6 things that were better in Soviet times than now
It is difficult for a Soviet person to keep up with the times. In the old days, many vital issues were solved much easier than now.
Confidence in the future
The question never arose in the head of a Soviet person: "what will happen tomorrow." People were confident in their future and its stability. They knew that they would receive an education and would be employed in their specialty, would have a stable salary, and would retire within the strictly allotted time frame.
Free medicine
Despite the latest technologies and inventions, modern medicine is inferior to Soviet medicine in many ways. In the USSR, they became doctors by vocation, and not to obtain a high status. Such doctors treated conscientiously, the physical health of each patient was important to them. Medicine was free. Each person could come to the hospital and be sure that he would definitely be helped and consulted. He did not need to spend most of his salary or pension on treatment.
Housing
The problem of housing, both before and now, remains one of the main ones. But in Soviet times, it was solved much easier. People, as a rule, enrolled in a queue to receive housing. The wait ranged from 2 to 10 years. But anyone who needed a roof over his head could get an apartment in the USSR for free. It was also given by an enterprise or a factory to any of its employees, regardless of their position.
Security
Soviet children disappeared on the street all day. Parents did not need to worry, as they do now, that troubles will happen to their child. They calmly let him go for a walk, to the store and even to friends in another area of the city.
In the Soviet Union, every adult considered it his duty to show concern not only for his own, but also for someone else's child. For example, help to cross the road. And if a child for some reason got lost, any caring Soviet citizen could bring him home. Or take him to the police station to determine his place of residence and find his parents.
Crime was also several times lower, which guaranteed greater safety not only for children, but also for adults.
Job
There were many factories and various industries in the Soviet Union. People studied and knew that they would definitely work. And they will not need to look for a place for themselves for a long time. Work experience was also not required. Young specialists were gladly hired for any enterprise, teaching them everything they needed. Over time, the employee could be promoted, provided that he is hardworking and efficient. Any high position could be obtained by a truly worthy person, and not someone's acquaintance, as is the case at the present time.
Sport
It was considered an honor to be an athlete. Every teenager dreamed of excelling in any sport in order to participate in major competitions, defending the honor of the country. Soviet masters of sports have won many Olympiads. They represented the USSR with dignity at various international competitions, proving to the whole world that our Power is the strongest. They sought to win not for the sake of money, but for the sake of self-esteem.
