DIY Christmas crafts
Whether from the nightmarish summer heat, or from a lack of emotions and events in life, but this year, thoughts about the New Year's holidays came to me in August. No matter how funny it is, but since that time I periodically began to look on the Internet precisely in order to find new ideas for DIY crafts for the New Year and Christmas. There is about a month before the eight in the calendar is replaced by the nine, so now I have begun to translate my desires into reality. I would like to share some ideas with you.
Decoration from felt "Piglet"
I love felt for its affordability and ease of use, so I often use this material for making interesting crafts. For the New Year, you can sew cute keychains in the shape of pigs out of felt, make decorative elements, Christmas tree decorations or greeting cards. I'll tell you how to make a cute wall decoration in the form of a symbol of the coming year.
You will need:
- felt pink in light and dark shades;
- black acrylic paint;
- thin ribbons of pink and lilac colors;
- 2 small sequins;
- 4 pink beads;
- white or light pink threads;
- scissors;
- glue gun.
Manufacturing:
-
Prepare tools and material.
Lay out the necessary equipment and materials on the work surface
-
Download a template for making parts. If this is not possible, just attach an A4 sheet to the computer screen and circle the blanks with a pencil.
Prepare the template
-
Using templates, prepare the piglet's details by cutting them out of felt.
To make the toy beautiful, cut out the details as carefully as possible.
-
Sew the ovals with white thread.
For trimming parts, use threads that match all other parts of the color
- Glue the head, ears, patch and sequin eyes to the body.
-
Fold a pink ribbon about 20 cm long in a loop and attach to the second part of the torso. At the ends of the ribbon, fasten two large beads (pig's legs).
The resulting loop from the ribbon will allow you to hang the toy on the wall or doorknob
- Cut 2 more pieces of tape and secure them flush with the two previously made "legs". Finish this step by tying two more beads.
-
With black paint, paint the pig's eyes and nostrils. You can replace acrylic paint with a regular marker.
Use acrylic paint or black marker to draw the eyes and nostrils of the pig.
-
Form a small bow out of a lilac ribbon, attach it with glue at the base of the head.
The finished toy can be used as decoration or as a gift to friends

New Year card
Another option is to congratulate loved ones or friends in an extraordinary way. A beautiful postcard made with your own hands, supplemented with warm words and wishes, will become one of the memorable gifts.
You will need:
- A4 colored cardboard;
- colored paper;
- scissors;
- PVA glue;
- decoration.
Manufacturing:
-
Bend a sheet of cardboard neatly and fold in half. This blank will serve as the basis for the postcard.
For the base of the postcard, use cardboard or thick A4 paper
- Cut 6 squares out of green paper. Lay the workpieces out on the work surface, one after the other.
-
Leave one square unchanged, shorten all subsequent ones one by one with scissors in length by 2 cm.
Each workpiece should be 2 cm shorter than the previous one
-
Fold the blanks of paper in thin accordions with sides of the same width.
Fold the accordions so that their dimensions do not differ in width
-
Bend each workpiece in half.
Bend the Christmas tree blanks clearly in the middle
-
Glue the blanks of paper into the cardboard base, placing them from the longest at the bottom to the shortest at the top. The distance between the workpieces should be about 5 mm.
Glue the blanks into the cardboard base, leaving equal gaps between them
-
Decorate the card to your liking. You can use sequins, cotton wool pieces, New Year's rain clippings, sequins, and any other elements that you find in your home.
The postcard can be decorated with any small decorative elements at your discretion

Festive wreath
The Western tradition of decorating homes with Christmas wreaths has entered our culture as well. Moreover, the most beautiful wreaths have become an element of the decor of all New Year's holidays. I suggest replacing the popular spruce wreath with a more creative and natural decoration.
You will need:
- base for a wreath made of foam;
- brown acrylic paint;
- glue gun;
- brush;
- masking tape;
- cones, nuts, chestnuts and other decoration material.
Manufacturing:
-
Form a round piece of Styrofoam by securing the ends of the tube with masking tape.
It is convenient to use paper tape to fasten the ends of the blanks.
-
Thoroughly paint the foam blank with brown acrylic paint.
Choose a paint against which decorative elements will look harmonious
-
Prepare cones, nuts, chestnuts, and other material. Clean such elements from debris in advance, rinse and dry thoroughly if necessary.
All natural elements for the wreath must be clean and dry
-
Using a glue gun, fasten large decorative elements (cones) over the entire surface of the workpiece, leaving the lower part unadorned.
First of all, the largest parts of the decoration should be glued to the base.
-
Glue smaller parts (chestnuts, nuts) into the voids formed between the large elements.
The voids between large elements must be filled with small elements
- Decorate the wreath with star anise stars.
-
Add some color to your craft by randomly gluing red felt balls or satin ribbon bows.
Add vibrant colors to your wreath for a more festive look

Homemade candles
Mysteriously flickering candles are an indispensable attribute of New Year's Eve. Today I offer you a way to make this decorative element with your own hands.
You will need:
- candle stubs;
- floss threads;
- large glass;
- glue gun;
- beads and satin ribbons for decoration.
Manufacturing:
-
Prepare the cinders. Select the remnants of candles of approximate colors, otherwise the craft will turn out to be ugly.
To make the candle beautiful, use cinders of similar colors.
-
Place the candle ends in a suitable container and melt in a water bath.
To form a new candle, the cinders must be melted in a water bath.
- Cut a piece of string about 1.5 times the height of the glass in which the candle will form.
- Dip the thread into the melted paraffin and hang to dry.
-
Once the paraffin has set, attach a small object to make the wick heavier at one end of the string.
To strengthen the candle wick clearly in the center of the glass, use a small but rather heavy object
- Strain the melted wax through a sieve to remove remnants of wicks and debris.
- Place the wick and weight in the glass.
-
Secure the thread with a paper clip and pencil so that it sits exactly in the center of the glass.
Fix the wick in a simple way using a long object and a clip
-
Pour melted wax into a glass and leave for 6-8 hours.
It will take at least a quarter of a day to completely solidify the candle.
- If a dimple forms in the frozen candle, melt a small amount of wax again and fill the void.
-
Decorate a completely frozen candle with beads, ribbons or other materials.
Decorate the candles however you like
