Advantages of flower beds made of tires or tires

People increasingly prefer tires when decorating flower beds, because:

  • material for decoration can be obtained for free using old tires;
  • used tires become soft and easy to handle;
  • landscape designers do not need a lot of tools to work with tires;
  • tires are easy to paint and refresh color over time;
  • tire beds last a long time, and their restoration does not require much effort;
  • decorations made of tires can be moved to another place if necessary.

The simplest flowerbeds of tires are obtained with ordinary tire coloring.

Making flower beds with your own hands

Having decided on the appearance of the future flower bed, prepare everything you need for decoration:

  1. Select the location of the decorative decoration and free the area from excess junk. Organize drainage to drain water from the flower bed.
  2. Get a suitable tire. Due to the softness and fineness of the material, imported rubber products are best processed. Winter tires are more pliable. If you turn out a tire, take heavily worn tires with thinned rubber.
  3. Remove dirt and unnecessary buildup from the tire surface.
  4. Make markings on the tire with chalk or a marker if you are planning a flowerbed of curly elements.
  5. Make sure you have the necessary tools - a sharp knife, brushes, paints, and more, depending on the design project. Car paint can be used to paint the rubber. Nitro enamel and paints with an acrylic composition are also suitable.
  6. Prepare pebbles, shells, and more to use for decoration.

Creative design of tire flower beds is a simple art

Before decorating the flower bed, you may have to cut it. People with strong hands can cut the side of the tire with an ordinary knife, after having lubricated the blade with grease. The knives get stuck in the rubber and the heavy grease makes them easy to remove. The most convenient way is to use a jigsaw or grinder. Since the work of a grinder on rubber can be accompanied by an unpleasant odor, experts recommend making one cut with this tool, and then using a jigsaw. Only a grinder can handle the protector.

Do not forget about safety precautions. The tire must be securely fastened so that the cutting tool does not break off.

Some design options for flower beds require the tire to be turned out. It is rarely possible to do this on your own; it is better to call an assistant in advance. You need to turn out tires correctly as follows:

  1. Cut the tire along the tread on one side.
  2. Lay on a flat surface with the whole side up.
  3. Grasp the cut with your hands and pull towards you, pressing and flattening the splint into an oval.

Decorating tire beds is most often accompanied by painting. It should be done correctly:

  1. Degrease the surface of the tire with white spirit or acetone.
  2. Wait until it is completely dry and use sandpaper to sand the surface of the tire.
  3. Lay polyethylene under the future product so as not to stain the painting area.
  4. Apply 3-4 coats of paint, the first of which should be white.

Solid tire beds look better with flowers

Helpful tips for coloring:

  • in order for the flowerbed to have a neat appearance, it must be painted from the top and the inside;
  • you can paint the tire with a brush, but to save time it is better to use aerosol cans;
  • the paint applied in a thick layer will crack quickly under the influence of high or low temperatures;
  • each layer of paint should be thin and dry for at least a day;
  • you can apply a pattern to the tires using a stencil, paint the bumps on the tread, or leave the tires in a solid color.

If the appearance of the tires does not get tired, you can decorate the flower bed with stones or plastic bottle caps.

Three-tiered tire bed

For multi-tiered flower beds, tires of different diameters are used. Procedure:

  1. Prepare a place for the future flower bed.
  2. Put on the largest diameter tire and fill it with earth from the inside.
  3. Install a medium-diameter tire on top, filling it with earth too.
  4. In the third tier, place a small tire and pour the earth inside.

If using cut rails, secure the edges in each tier with staples or wire.

Tire flower bed with disc

If the tire comes with a disc, then you can build an original decoration for the garden:

  1. Mark a cutting line around the entire circumference of the tire.
  2. Cut the part along the outline.
  3. Check for any uncut areas.
  4. Turn out the workpiece slowly, in parts. If there is a camera in the wheel, it must be carefully removed.
  5. Sand the edges and start painting.

Tire flower

Flower-shaped beds are one of the simple design options:

  1. Choose the shape of the petals of the future flower.
  2. Mark the side of the tire.
  3. Cut out the petals with a handy tool.
  4. Turn the workpiece inside out and place it in the prepared place.
  5. Paint the flower bed.

You can cut the tires into several pieces and lay out flowers from them

Tire swan

A flowerbed in the shape of swans is a universal decoration of the local area. They do it like this:

  1. Sketch the outline of the bird's neck and head on the tire, taking a pattern from the Internet or by using your imagination.
  2. Cut out the swan starting at the base of the neck.
  3. Make cuts for the tail and feather wings.
  4. Unscrew the tire.
  5. Make a bird's beak out of plywood or plastic and paint it red.
  6. Attach the beak to the swan's head.
  7. Secure the neck: drill paired holes in the tire and attach the neck with a thin wire to the aluminum strip from the outside.
  8. Color the swan, and after the paint dries, glue the eyes of black electrical tape on the bird's head.

  1. Zigzag the side of the tire.
  2. For a more complex shape of the edge of the flowerpot, use a jigsaw.
  3. Turn the tire out and sand the edge of the flowerpot for an aesthetic look.
  4. Place the inverted tire on a stand made from another tire for greater stability.

We are now completing the construction of summer cottages and the design of the site is very interesting for the whole family. I especially liked the three-tier flower beds - small flowers like garden violets or marigolds will look good in them. We plan to plant primrose or petunias on the lower tier.
