Many housewives love pea soup because it is delicious and nutritious. And if you cook it with chicken, it becomes low in calories. This soup is eaten with pleasure even by those who follow the figure. We present to you some simple but interesting recipes for chicken pea soup.
Classic Chicken Pea Soup Recipe
This recipe has the simplest set of products, and it cooks quickly enough. You will need:
- 250-300 g chicken fillet;
- 1 cup peas
- 1 carrot;
- 1 onion;
- 3 large potatoes;
- 1 bunch of greens;
- salt, pepper - to taste.
I recommend taking not whole peas, but split peas - they boil down much faster. But there is a way to make whole peas softer. Rinse it thoroughly, fill it with cold water and add literally 1-2 pinches of baking soda. Leave it on for a few hours. For example, if you are going to cook soup for dinner, then soak the peas at 7 in the morning. This time will be enough for the soda to soften the grains. They will cook in just half an hour.

Pour water into a saucepan, add peas. Cut the chicken into small pieces and place in a saucepan as well. Place on the stove and turn on medium heat. Please note that peas give a copious foam when boiled, so remove it regularly. Reduce the intensity of the fire as soon as the water boils.

Prepare vegetables for soup: peel them, chop potatoes and onions, grate carrots. Fry onions with carrots in vegetable oil. Add potatoes and frying 20 minutes after the broth boils, then salt and season the soup.

How to cook pea soup in a slow cooker
You can use the same ingredients to make chicken pea soup in a slow cooker. The cooking process differs slightly:
- First of all, put chicken and peas in the multicooker bowl, cover with water, salt.
- Set the "Soup" mode and cook for 1 hour. During this time, the peas will boil.
- Chop potatoes, onions and carrots into small pieces. Place the vegetables in the broth and continue cooking on the same setting for 35 minutes.
- Put chopped greens into the soup a couple of minutes before the end of the cycle.
It's even easier to make pea soup in a multicooker than in a saucepan.

Chicken soup with peas and beans
The combination of beans and peas adds originality to this soup. Besides, we use more vegetables here and ketchup to boot.
For 3 liters of soup you will need:
- 1 chicken breast;
- 100 g of peas;
- 300 g beans;
- 2 carrots;
- 1 tomato;
- 1 bell pepper;
- 5 cloves of garlic;
- 1-2 tbsp. l. tomato paste;

salt and spices to taste.
Beans will make pea soup even more satisfying.
And also take sour cream, herbs and crackers to serve. Soak the beans overnight. If you have whole peas, so do that.
- Place the chicken breast to simmer. In the meantime, prepare other foods. One carrot should be cut into thin halves, the other grated on a medium grater. Chop tomato, pepper and garlic finely. Put everything in a frying pan with heated sunflower oil, add ketchup or tomato paste, pour in 1 cup of water. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the carrot pieces are tender.
- When the chicken stock starts to boil, reduce the heat. Put the peas and beans in a saucepan, salt and season with spices. Leave to simmer for 40 minutes. Top up with boiled water if necessary.
- Remove the chicken breast from the broth, cut into pieces and return to the pot. Send the roast there. Simmer for another 10 minutes, covered. When the peas and beans are tender, the soup is ready.
Pea soup with chicken and mushrooms
Mushrooms are a great addition to pea soup.
You will need:
- 120 g potatoes;
- 200 g of chicken;
- 120 g peas;
- 150 g of mushrooms;
- 2 tomatoes;
- 100 g carrots;
- 50 g bell pepper;
- 20 g of greens;
- 2-3 bay leaves;
- 2 liters of water;
- salt to taste.
It is customary in our family to cook pea soup with smoked meats. It's incredibly delicious. But, unfortunately, a ham or at least a bone and skins from it is not always available. But there are dried mushrooms. It can be boletus, aspen, russula and any others. They really give any soup a smoked meat flavor. But if this is not important for you, you can use raw or canned mushrooms for such a soup.
- Put the potatoes and chicken into small pieces in a saucepan with water. Place on the stove. When the water boils, add the peas. Keep on medium heat for 10 minutes, constantly skimming off the foam.

Process tomatoes and mushrooms with a blender until puree. Grate the carrots on a coarse grater, chop the pepper. Put it all in a saucepan, cook for 15 minutes. Season with salt and bay leaves. Remove soup from stove and serve.
