Why do people have the same dreams and what they mean

Parallel dreams
Parallel dreams

Similar dreams in different people are the norm. Many of us have similar experiences, experiences, worldviews … But what if absolutely the same dreams were dreamed by several people at the same time? What is the opinion of mystics and esoterics on this matter? Not everyone is even sure that this is possible.

Can two people have the same dream?

It is difficult to give an unambiguous answer to this question, because there are still no scientific, documented manifestations of this phenomenon. But we can try to rely on numerous stories about such cases:

  • a certain woman who lived in the USSR once saw in a dream a beautiful sailor unknown to her - he bowed to her in a dream. A few years later, they met and immediately recognized each other. Then the sailor said that he also had this dream;
  • there is also a story that Abraham Lincoln and his wife, shortly before the president's death, saw his death in dreams - and at the same time;
  • a similar story is told about Jacqueline and Robert Kennedy - they allegedly saw the death of John F. Kennedy in a dream and even phoned that night to exchange thoughts and guesses.

In general, the same dreams can be divided into two large groups - joint and coinciding. The former are distinguished by the fact that dreamers meet each other in a dream, maybe even somehow interact. Coinciding dreams are somewhat simpler - two or more people dream of the same image, the same plot, but they do not see each other in them. An important condition for the same dreams is that they should occur at about the same time.

Why do people have the same dream

There are many theories that would explain this phenomenon. Here are the three most popular ones.

  1. The first asserts that in a dream we find ourselves in another world, where we may well meet other real dreamers. This explains the same plot of the dream, the coincidence of time, and also the fact that dreamers recognize each other.
  2. The second speaks of the telepathic connection that is created between people in particularly difficult situations or in very close relationships. However, this does not explain the creation of "shared dreams" in people who are not even familiar. On the other hand, this version is closer than others to the scientific explanation of the phenomenon. If we discard telepathy, then we can come to the conclusion that the same experiences and memories in two close people can indeed cause two similar dreams.
  3. There is a third version, according to which coinciding (but not joint) dreams appear in sensitive people who are able to grasp the prediction of something serious. In this case, the dreamers, like antennas, catch the "signal" of the sign and receive it in the form of a vivid image in a dream.

It is possible that people who dream of a catastrophe before it appears are connected to the same "information channel"

What does the same dream mean

The significance of this phenomenon largely depends on:

  • who are the dreamers to each other;
  • whether the dream was coincidental or shared;
  • what theory of explanation we will rely on.

Traditionally, it is believed that common dreams about various major events (catastrophes, revolutions, wars, etc.) are prophetic. Most common dreams, in which dreamers are unfamiliar with each other, are also interpreted in the same way.

If the dream was coincident, but at the same time it did not talk about serious phenomena, then pay attention to the connections between the dreamers. Close people sometimes have almost identical dreams. You can check the "phenomenality" of the phenomenon - separately write down your dream in all details on a piece of paper (you can even sketch individual pictures and landscapes), and then let another dreamer read it. It is highly likely that only the general arc of the narrative or the most vivid image of a dream coincided, but you differ in details. If the dream completely coincided, this may indicate either a mystical connection created between you, or that both of you, being sensitive people, caught the same image.

A joint dream with a stranger is always a vivid and romantic experience. What could be more inspiring than realizing that you met a loved one or best friend in a dream even before you met? It is believed that such a dream speaks of your fateful meeting. Some argue that this is how souls who loved each other in a past life make themselves felt after reincarnation.

When you meet the person you saw in your dream, you will surely experience some shock.

Sharing a dream with someone you know is also an unusual phenomenon. If you did not do it intentionally, then we can assume that there is an invisible connection between you and the other dreamer. She does not necessarily speak of romantic affection - rather, it indicates a kind of partnership, union. There is such a concept - "soul mate". Perhaps in a dream you saw exactly her.

Identical dreams are a rare phenomenon, in the actual existence of which not everyone is still convinced. But if this phenomenon affects you, remember the dream properly and keep your ears open.
