In principle, there is nothing unusual about it, because you can choose any combination of products to your taste as a filling. But the design of such a treat really deserves attention. Golden "shells" made of baked dough with appetizing fillings look original and immediately attract the attention of everyone at the table.

Step-by-step recipe for the Black Pearl snack

Over the years, I have never ceased to be amazed and delighted in the puff pastry options. What cooks do not come up with to surprise others with a delicious and beautiful dish. Another pleasant novelty in this regard was for me a puff pastry snack in the form of sea shells with a filling, which I tried at a family celebration of friends.

Ingredients:

  • 200 g puff pastry;
  • 50 g processed cheese;
  • 1 boiled egg;
  • 2 tsp French mustard;
  • 2-3 sprigs of fresh dill;
  • 50 g olives.

Preparation:

  1. Place the puff pastry on a lightly floured work surface and roll out a little.
  2. Using a metal muffin mold, cut out dough pieces from the dough. For each portion of the snack base, you will need 2 such blanks.

  3. Lightly flour each dough piece (on both sides).
  4. Connect 2 blanks together, laying them one on top of the other and pressing down carefully in one place so that they join and do not fall apart during cooking.

    Fasten the blanks in pairs

  5. On the top of each piece, make longitudinal shallow stripes like the edges of real shells. It is most convenient to do this with the blunt side of the knife.

  6. Transfer the pieces to a baking sheet lined with baking paper and brush with a beaten egg using a cooking brush.
  7. Bake the pieces for 10-15 minutes at 180 degrees until the "shells" open. The dough should be golden brown.
  8. Remove the pieces from the oven and let them cool completely.

  9. Grate the melted cheese and boiled egg on a fine grater, mix with finely chopped dill and mustard.

    Prepare the filling

  10. Stuff the dough “shells” with the resulting mass.
  11. Garnish each serving of the snack with olive, placing it in the middle of the filling.

For filling "shells" from puff pastry, you can use many of your favorite salads or come up with delicious combinations for your own. The most popular options are:

  • salad "Olivier" or "Capital";
  • crab salad;
  • Mimosa salad";
  • snack "Jewish".

Depending on the filling and what you have at your fingertips, you can also use olives or halves of boiled quail eggs instead of the "pearl". The treat will look rich and very festive, complemented by beads of red or black caviar (both natural and artificial).

In addition to all of the above, I want to say that I make such an appetizer in a sweet version. Curd cheese is great as a filling, and berries (black or white grapes, gooseberries) or small chocolate eggs are the decoration.
