Dispelling age-old myths - is it really necessary to eat soup every day?

Eating soup for the first time is a habit from childhood. We all still remember the words of both mom and kindergarten teacher: "Eat your soup first!" Even as adults, many remain faithful to family traditions and continue to eat the first themselves and feed their children with it. Let's see if it really is necessary to include soup in your daily diet and what benefits it brings to the body.

What is the use of soup

There are more than 150 types of soup in the world. Each of them has several subspecies and a huge number of cooking options. What unites them is that this dish is prepared by the cooking method and consists of 50% liquid. This cooking method and composition has a lot of benefits:

  • most vitamins are retained. It is known that during heat treatment vitamin C is rapidly destroyed, but vitamins of group B, A, PP, E, D retain their properties. Also, along with vitamins, you will receive minerals and fiber;
  • soups are easily digestible. Their consistency allows the body not to waste a lot of energy on digestion;
  • hot soup stimulates digestion, preparing the stomach for the next meal;
  • vegetable soups give you a feeling of fullness, which allows you not to gain extra calories;
  • with cold soup in the heat of summer you will get a lot of vitamins and "lightness in the whole body", and hot soup in winter will warm you and save you from eating high-calorie foods;
  • the liquid base of the first course will replenish the water-salt balance in the body.

Do I need to eat soup every day

Should I eat soup daily? The body needs a certain combination of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, depending on activity and health. It is only important to correctly compose your daily diet so that there is no deficiency of certain nutrients and an excess or lack of calories. And in what form they enter your body - in the form of soups, main courses or salads - it doesn't matter. Therefore, healthy adults do not need to eat soup every day.

However, there are categories of people who need soup every day:

  • patients with lesions of the digestive tract;
  • people in the recovery period after colds;
  • losing weight.

It should be noted that soups in this case should be light, hated. For patients with gastritis and peptic ulcer, mucous soups based on cereals are desirable.

People with gastritis need soup every day

Soup is much more necessary for the child's body. In children under 12 years of age, the gastrointestinal tract works differently than in adults, and therefore they need easily digestible meals. This includes soup, so it is advisable (but not necessary) to eat it daily. But here it is important to take into account the child's taste preferences: food "out of hand" will do more harm than good. Watch your child: maybe he doesn't eat soup well because of unappetizing pieces of vegetables. Offer him a puree soup - in it, your child will definitely not see any carrots, potatoes, and easily digestible vitamins will receive the same.

The child's body needs soup

And now it's time to refute the statement of our parents: "Eat soup - otherwise you will get gastritis." Today, in 90% of cases of gastritis, the bacterium Helicobacter pylori is to blame. Infection occurs through the use of shared utensils, a toothbrush, or through saliva while kissing. Bacterial colonies secrete substances that destroy the walls of the stomach. And since the gastric juice contains hydrochloric acid, the mucous membrane is even more corroded, ulcers and inflammation appear. So there is no connection between the refusal of soup and the occurrence of gastritis.

The benefits of a properly prepared soup are obvious. Eating the first one every day or giving it up altogether depends on your desire to stand at the stove. But nutritionists and doctors believe that soup should be present in the diet at least several times a week.
