Don't drink raw: 5 water misconceptions you shouldn't believe

Many people blindly believe absolutely all beliefs associated with drinking water, and strictly follow them. But a large number of myths soar around this topic that do not have any scientific confirmation. Here are the most common ones.

Drink 2 liters a day

Each person is individual, and therefore the need for fluid is different for everyone. One two liters a day will not be enough to replenish the body's fluid loss, while in others, this amount can cause shortness of breath and the appearance of edema.

The rate of fluid intake depends on a number of factors:

  • age;
  • body weight;
  • lifestyle;
  • air temperature.

If you have any health problems (such as kidney disease), the amount of fluid you need is determined by your doctor. It should be borne in mind that it enters the body not only with drinks, but also with food, fruits and vegetables, so excessive consumption should be avoided. The best option is to focus on your own feelings, that is, a feeling of thirst. If there are no health problems, the body itself will let you know that it needs fluid.

Do not boil twice

It is believed that water after repeated boiling becomes hazardous to health due to the formation of deuterium oxide in it. This water is called "heavy" or "heavy hydrogen". The process of its formation has been scientifically proven and, indeed, with repeated boiling, deuterium is formed.

But its amount is negligible to somehow harm the human body. The danger will appear only if you use the kettle for several decades, so do not be afraid of boiling again, this will not affect your health in any way.

Bottled water is safe

Fearing to drink tap water, many people prefer to buy bottled water in a supermarket or order delivery of large volumes to their homes, but there is no guarantee of its quality. Unscrupulous manufacturers can bottle the most common tap water, while a well-known brand label will be glued to the package. In addition, in case of improper transportation or storage (high temperature, direct sunlight), toxic substances can get into the water from the plastic container, which will definitely harm health.

If you buy bottled water, then you need to carefully study its origin. On the packaging, the manufacturer must indicate the source (well) and its location. Mineral water cannot be consumed without medical indications, it can only harm health.

You can't drink raw water

Water goes through more than one stage of purification, where its quality is controlled using physicochemical, microbiological, hydrobiological analyzes. According to the results of various tests, such purified water can be consumed without fear for health.

Only the old water supply system in cities can worsen its quality. Broken pipes are the main cause of pollution, which is why chlorination cannot be avoided. To get rid of some impurities, it is enough to use household filters for cleaning. Tap water passed through the filter can be safely used as drinking water without boiling.

Water will relieve a hangover

When drinking alcohol, the body loses fluid more intensively, but this process is in no way associated with a hangover. Indeed, to replenish fluid, you need to drink more water, but this does not affect your well-being. A hangover is not caused by a lack of fluid in the body, but by the breakdown of alcohol.

The best helper in this case is pickle. A glass of cucumber or cabbage product allows you to replenish the loss of electrolyte salts. It is worth considering that only brine is suitable, and not a marinade that contains vinegar.
