Composition and form of release

Feliway is manufactured by Ceva Sante Animale from France. The range includes different forms of cat sedatives:

• Spray. The liquid contains 90% ethanol, 10% artificial pheromone F3. In a bottle of 60 ml of the drug.

  

  Spray Feliway is available in a bottle containing 60 ml of the drug

• Diffuser and replaceable bottles for it. The set includes 1 diffuser and 1 container with the drug (48 ml), which can later be changed to a new one (sold separately). The basis of this effect is the action of the pheromone of the animal's facial glands, which it uses to delineate its own territory. That is, the drug applied in a new place will be able to deceive the cat, convincing it at the physiological level that it has already been here and can feel protected and safe. Thus, the pet does not need to go through a long period of adaptation, explore new territory, wipe objects with its muzzle.

An additional plus of treatment with a facial pheromone preparation is the prevention of territory marks. The animal does not want to mark a new area. Thanks to the action of the remedy, the cat does not feel anxiety and can quickly adapt to the changed environmental conditions.

One of the varieties of the drug - Feliway Friends - is based on an analogue of another pheromone - what a cat secretes after giving birth to establish a connection with its offspring. Indications for use

Stress impairs the production of pheromones, so a cat that is nervous will not be able to quickly create a comfortable environment for itself. And even an insignificant event, in the opinion of a person, can become stress for such a sensitive animal. The use of Felivey may be relevant in the following situations:

• moving;

• travel (including a short one, for example, a trip to a veterinary clinic);

The purchase of the drug in this version is important when moving to a new living space - feeling the pheromone, the cat will be calm and friendly and quickly get used to the new environment. Using a diffuser is very simple:

1. Remove the cap from the liquid bottle and screw it into the electrical part of the device.

2. The assembled diffuser is simply plugged into an outlet, and it will begin to vaporize the drug. The device is designed for rooms up to 50–70 sq. m. It is necessary to choose open sockets, but hidden behind the door, curtains, furniture, under the shelves will not work.

1. The animal must be removed from the room.
2. Places where there are marks should be washed with a mild soapy solution. At this stage, you should not use aggressive formulations with a pronounced odor - this can create additional stress, and the effectiveness of the procedure will decrease.
3. When the surface is dry, you need to spray on it. The bottle is pre-shaken, and during processing, the distance to the surface is kept at least 20 centimeters. Do not apply too much composition - just one click.
4. After 20 minutes after processing, you can allow the animal to enter the room - during this time, all the alcohol has already disappeared.
5. The treatment is repeated daily for a month, without interrupting the course in the event of the first improvement in behavior.
6. If new objects appear in the room that can be a potential place for a tag, they should be sprayed from the first day. The preventive course is 14 days.

It is important to understand that the spray does not remove the unpleasant odor of urine; it will have to be dealt with separately after the undesirable behavior of the animal is eradicated.

Processing the premises will be necessary when moving - in a new home, it is worth spraying all places that are significant for the animal, namely:

• entrance to the rooms;
• protruding furniture corners;
• window sills.

Such processing will allow the animal to quickly adapt, because you will bring it to a place where a comfortable environment has already been created.

If you have to travel in a carrier, being at the exhibition in a cage, which is also stressful for the pet, the temporary stay should also be sprayed. 20 minutes before the event, the composition is sprayed on every corner of the carrier or cage - thanks to this, the cat will be much calmer.

Restrictions and security

A huge plus for this cat sedative is its safety. Pheromones do not affect the animal's body, do not penetrate inside, they simply act as a signal for the animal, informing that there is no need to worry and fear. The drug is odorless, has no effect on humans and other animals, since the pheromone system has a strict species specificity and is simply not perceived by those for whom it is not intended.

Since the product has no systemic effect on the animal's body, the manufacturer does not describe any restrictions for its simultaneous use with other agents.

To preserve the properties of Felivey, it is necessary to store it correctly - in a dark place, separate from food at a temperature of 20-25 degrees Celsius. The shelf life of the product is 4 years.
