5 rolls "in Russian" from simple products
Exotic Japanese rolls are firmly entrenched in our menu and even got a little boring. Using their cooking principle and serving style, you can come up with equally tasty dishes from traditional products for us. Due to the simplicity of the recipes, "Russian" rolls can be prepared even every day, and the beauty of the result obtained makes them worthy of any holiday.
Potato and herring rolls
This is the original version of the beloved, but already boring "fur coat". In addition to food for cooking, you need cling film and a bamboo sushi mat. Peel and boil the potatoes, make a dense puree from it, cool.
We wrap the rug with cling film and distribute the puree in an even thin layer. On the edge we spread strips of boiled beets and carrots, a chopped chicken egg. Add mayonnaise and a strip of herring fillet on top. We roll everything into a roll and cut with a sharp knife. Lay thin slices of herring and onion rings on top of the rolls. If you wish, you can decorate the dish with dill or parsley.
Pancake rolls
If the previous dish can be safely served for the New Year, then bright pancake rolls will become the main decoration of Maslenitsa. For the filling, you can use lightly salted salmon or other red fish. We also need soft cream cheese, sour cream and avocado, which can be replaced with fresh cucumber if desired.
We knead and bake thin pancakes according to any recipe you like. Cut the salmon and avocado into thin strips, and add a couple of tablespoons of sour cream to the cheese. Grease the pancake with a cheese-sour cream mixture and sprinkle with chopped herbs. Put a few strips of salmon and avocado on the edge. We wrap it in a roll.
For the rolls to be well cut, you need to put the dish in the refrigerator for 1-1.5 hours. Then, with a sharp knife, cut the roll into pieces 3 cm high and lay it beautifully on a plate.
Lavash rolls
In order not to fool around with pancakes, you can make thin pita rolls. For the filling, you will need crab sticks, boiled eggs, hard cheese and fresh herbs. Lubricate a square sheet of pita bread with mayonnaise and garlic, chopped with a press. Finely chop the crab sticks and spread them in a wide strip on the edge of the lavash - it should occupy one fourth of the sheet.
Lay out the second strip from finely chopped or grated eggs, the third from chopped greens, and the fourth from grated cheese. Put the second sheet of lavash on top, greased with mayonnaise and garlic. In this case, the "mayonnaise" side should cover the filling.
Gently press down the top sheet with our palms, and then we roll everything into a roll and wrap it in foil. To make the roll freeze and soak well, place it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. Over time, we take it out, unfold it and cut it with a sharp knife into pieces 2 cm high.
Cucumber rolls
Miniature fresh cucumber rolls will become an original summer snack. For the filling we take crab sticks, boiled eggs, processed cheese, herbs and mayonnaise. Choose thicker cucumbers, but not old ones, and cut them lengthwise into thin slices. Grind eggs, crab sticks and cheese, add finely chopped greens and season with mayonnaise.
Put the resulting salad on the edge of the cucumber strip and gently fold the roll. To fix it, we chop it off with a skewer or a toothpick. Put the rolls on a plate. If you wish, you can put lemon circles on the bottom of the dish.
Rolls in bacon
An interesting option for hot rolls. We need nori sheets, rice, bacon slices, boiled tongue, mustard, and pickled cucumber. We use potato or corn starch for breading
Boil the rice and spread it in a thin layer on the nori sheet, compact well. Spread a square of bacon strips on the rug and cover it with a cooked sheet of nori with rice (the rice side is on the bacon). This step requires dexterity to keep the rice from falling off in the process.
Alternatively, you can spread the bacon first, cover it with nori, and then spread the rice. The result is two flavors of rolls, but crispy bacon will always be on top.
We step back from the edge of the workpiece a couple of centimeters and put strips of boiled tongue and pickled cucumber, add a little mustard. Twist a large roll and bread it in starch. Fry lightly in vegetable oil on all sides. Serve immediately - hot with a golden brown crust.
