Puff pastry "Princess" appetizer: decorate the table with an original treat
Ready-made puff pastry can serve as the basis for a huge number of amazing snacks for everyday meals and holiday tables. Having a package of such a product in the fridge, you can not worry about preparing breakfast or a quick snack, and also feed unexpected guests in a matter of minutes. It doesn't matter if you have worked with puff pastry before or want to try it for the first time - everyone can do today's recipe for a tender Princess snack. An uncomplicated dish captivates with its simplicity of preparation, excellent taste and original design in the form of a small crown.
Step by step recipes for "Princess" puff pastry snack
As I said above, the ready-made appetizer, or rather, its puff pastry base, resembles a small crown that often flaunt on the heads of fairy-tale princesses from cartoons and books. But as for the filling, it is difficult to answer unequivocally. I know more than a dozen options, but I can't say that they are all to my taste. Therefore, today I want to share the recipes for this appetizer, which are most popular among my loved ones. But I also want to note that you can always fill these peculiar baskets the way you want it!
"Princess" appetizer with sausage, cheese and bell pepper
The easiest option is to fill puff pastry baskets with those products that are at hand almost always and in every refrigerator. First of all, I will tell you about the appetizer stuffed with sausage and cheese, because it is this duet that helps us out most often.
Ingredients:
- 200 g of puff yeast dough;
- 100 g sausage;
- 1/2 red onion;
- 1/4 Bulgarian color;
- 100 g of hard cheese;
- 1 egg.
Preparation:
-
Place the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured table and cut into medium-sized squares. Be guided by the size of the molds in which the appetizer will be prepared: the dough pieces should be slightly larger than the diameter of the holes in the mold so that their corners protrude outward.
Roll out and cut the puff pastry into portions
-
Arrange the dough pieces in lightly greased (vegetable or butter) tins so that the corners remain outside.
Transfer the dough to suitable molds
-
Chop the sausage, onion and bell pepper finely. Transfer the prepared ingredients to the blanks.
Arrange the filling components into the blanks
- Brush the surface of the uncovered dough with a beaten egg.
-
Top off each piece with a small slide of grated hard cheese.
Add hard cheese grated on a coarse grater
-
Place the dish in the oven and cook the snack at 200 degrees for 30 minutes.
It will take about half an hour to bake a snack

"Princess" snack with chicken breast and dill
The second version of the popular snack involves a boiled chicken breast filling. Oven, pan or grill is also suitable. I want to note that chicken can be safely replaced with turkey fillet or lean pork.
Ingredients:
- 500 g puff pastry;
- 200 g of cooked chicken breast;
- 1-2 heads of onions;
- 1 bunch of fresh dill;
- 100 g sour cream;
- 150 g of grated hard cheese;
- salt and black pepper to taste.
Preparation:
- Cut the chicken fillet cooked in any way into small cubes, finely chop the onions and dill. Mix everything in one bowl with sour cream, salt and black pepper.
-
Roll out the puff pastry into a layer 0.5–0.7 cm thick, then, as in the previous recipe, cut into square pieces.
Prepare the dough
-
Grease the molds with butter, put the dough in them.
Transfer the dough squares to greased tins
-
Arrange the filling into the blanks.
Transfer the filling into the dough
-
Bake the appetizer for 15 minutes at 180-200 degrees, then remove and sprinkle with grated cheese.
Remove the baskets from the oven a quarter of an hour after the start of baking
- Place the food back in the oven and cook for another 5-10 minutes.
-
When the cheese is completely melted and covers the filling with an appetizing crust, remove the appetizer, transfer to a plate and serve.
The melted cheese will cover the filling of the baskets with a golden crust
"Princess" snack with berries and cottage cheese
Despite the fact that most of the recipes for the "Princess" snack imply a savory filling, there are also options in which this condition is not met. But there is nothing wrong with that, because in a sweet version, the treat turns out to be no less tasty.
Ingredients:
- 250 g puff pastry;
- 250-300 g of cottage cheese;
- 1-2 eggs;
- 80-100 g of granulated sugar;
- 5 g vanilla sugar;
- 1-1.5 st. fresh or frozen berries;
- 3-4 st. l. starch.
Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
- Roll out and slice the dough.
-
Prepare berries: fresh - rinse and dry, frozen - defrost and drain in a colander to get rid of excess liquid.
Prepare the berries for the filling
-
Mash cottage cheese with granulated sugar, vanilla sugar and eggs.
Mix cottage cheese with eggs and sugar
-
Place the dough pieces into suitable molds and fill them with the curd filling.

-
Thoroughly roll the berries in starch and spread on top of the curd.
Dip the berries in starch
- Send the future snack to the hot oven and cook for 15–20 minutes.
-
Cool the ruddy baskets slightly and transfer to a dish. Done!
