Destructive self-deception: why Orthodoxy does not approve of civil marriage

People have little idea of what the correct combination of a man and a woman means, how colossal it is. With the breakdown of this unity, the history of sin on Earth began, their reunification in God will become the end of human wanderings. Nevertheless, it is this topic that has overgrown with all sorts of problems: not everyone strives for legal marriage, and even more so for the blessing of the church.

Relationships in a civil marriage

Civil marriage is positioned by many as freedom from prejudice: "our will, how we live, we do not want to put feelings in the shackles of official papers." There are many (and these are usually men) who whisper to their half: "Let's live together first - suddenly we don't fit each other!" The girls agree, believing that it is impossible without this.

Girls are basically looking for the only one to always be with him, have children, love and care.

In such a relationship, they are sure that this is forever, and they are no longer free, but not married either. Children are born, regardless of what their parents think about it. And this is where serious problems begin. Children must come to a prepared ground, to a strong relationship, otherwise everything gets complicated.

Or a guy meets with one or the other, not daring to make a choice, and as a result, both are pregnant at once. Then suffering, distorted lives, one pulls the other. All of this might not have happened if the laws of marriage were important to people.

Why Orthodoxy is against

Why do two people start a family? The Bible says: "… Man, let him cleave to his wife, and the two will be one flesh." This is a secret.

Orthodoxy considers two people to live together without official registration as fornication. The Church calls a civil marriage a union registered by the state. Although in her eyes he is not considered complete, but she does not deny him, because Heaven gives everyone time to come to faith. Even at the level of state registration, people are already making a vow to each other, this is, one might say, the beginnings of a real marriage.

These words of Scripture are also significant: "What God has combined, let not man separate." When people live without God's blessing, they are open to all winds. Are there not enough evil looks, words, situations that can destroy the union of two. The wedding gives loving protection, they are given an angel who will guard and guide the family. Of course, if they make an effort for this, and not expect that now everything will work out by itself.
