How to crochet a yellow pig - a symbol of 2019

The New Year is approaching, which is declared by astrologers the Year of the Yellow Earth Pig. If you like the tradition of exchanging souvenirs that represent the symbol of the coming year on New Year's holidays, it's time to take care of purchasing or making them.
How to knit using the amigurumi technique
The best knitting technique for knitting toys is amigurumi. It can be used by both experienced knitters and beginners. The technique, in principle, is simple: the rows are knitted tightly, single crochet stitches are mainly used, sometimes half-stitches, connecting posts. One of the features of this technique is the beginning of knitting. Here, not the usual closed chain of air loops is used, but an amigurumi ring.

When using a loop of air loops (left), a hole is obtained, but amigurumi rings (right) do not.
It is done simply: wind the thread around your finger in one or two turns (depending on the thickness of the thread: thin - two, thicker - one) and start the required number of single crochets, then pull the tail and pull off the ring - there will be no hole.

The "mysterious" amigurumi ring is very simple
The rows are knitted in a spiral, so you need to use a marker to count the rows. For these purposes, it is better to use a contrasting thread that stretches between the rows.

For counting rows, it is better to use a contrasting thread.
It is better to stuff toys with amigurumi with synthetic fluff or holofiber. The synthetic winterizer is not distributed evenly, cotton wool and all kinds of fabric and thread scraps fall off and spoil the appearance of the toy.
To create a pig, we need:
- yarn (it is better to take cotton without lint, or cotton + acrylic, if you want a soft pig - plush or velor yarn) in two shades - for a patch and jewelry,
- hook,
- needle,
- eyes,
- filler,
- scissors,
- threads for decorating the face.
Choose the color yourself, if you want - do, as the horoscope requires, a yellow pig, and if you don’t bother with such trifles (or the yellow one resembles a hippopotamus that fell ill with jaundice due to fear of vaccinations) - traditionally pink.
Legend:
- KA - amigurumi ring,
- St - single crochet,
- Y - decrease,
- P - an increase,
- VP - air loop,
- StN - double crochet,
- St2N - a column with two crochets,
- C - connecting post,
- in brackets - how many columns should appear in a row,
- R. - a number.

The procedure for working on a toy
We knit the first leg:
- R. 1: 6 Art in CA;
- R. 2: 6 P;
- R. 3: we repeat six times - P, St (we get 18 St);
- R. 4: 18 Art;
- R. 5: 18 Art.
- We close and cut the thread, hide it inside the leg.
We knit the second leg in the same way, but we do not cut the thread, but connect it with the first. We continue to knit up the torso, and then the head.

We begin to knit the pig from the legs
We knit the torso:
- R. 6–8: 3 rows of 36 st;
- R. 9: we repeat six times - 5 Art, P (42);
- R. 10: 42 Art;
- R. 11:42 Art;
- R. 12: 6 times - 6 Art, P (48);
- R. 13 - 20: 8 rows of 48 st;
- R. 21: 6 times - 6 St, U (we knit two single crochets together) (42);
- R. 22: 42 Art;
- R. 23: 6 times - 5 Art, U (36);
- R. 24: 26 Art;
- R. 25: 6 times - 4 Art, U (30);
- R. 26: 30 Art;
- R. 27: 6 times - 3 Art, U (24);
- R. 28: 24 Art.
We stuff the legs and body tightly, monitor the uniformity of the stuffing. Let's get down to the head.

It is necessary to stuff the body of the pig tightly and evenly.
Head:
- R. 29: 12 times - Art, P;
- R. 30: 36 Art;
- R. 31: 12 times - 2 Art, P;
- R. 32: 48 Art;
- R 33: 6 times - 7 Art, P;
- R. 34 - 43: knit 10 rows at 54 St;
- R. 44: 6 times - 7 Art, U (48);
- R. 45: 6 times - 6 Art, U (42);
- R. 46: 6 times - 5 Art, U (36);
- R. 47: 6 times - 4 Art, U (30);
- R. 48: 6 times - 3 Art, U (24);
- R. 49: 6 times - 2 Art, U (18);
- R. 50: 6 times - 1 Art, U (12);
- R. 51: 6 U (6);
- Tighten the loop and cut the long thread.
We stuff the head tightly, for this it is better to use tweezers, a sushi stick or a skewer. Pull the hole with a needle. We fasten and hide the thread inside. We proceed to knitting small details.
Front legs (2 pcs.):
- 6 Art in CA.
- 6 P.
- 10 rows of 12 Art.
We fill, fold in half and knit 5 columns, grabbing both walls, fix and cut off the long thread with which we will sew.
Ears (2 pcs.):
- 6 Art in CA.
- We knit with increments, repeating the rapport twice: 2 St, P; 3 Art, P, etc. to 7 Art, P (18 columns).
- We knit decreases. Rapport twice - 7 St, U; 6 Art, U; 5 Art, U; 4 Art, U (10).
Do not fill, fold in half and finish like paws.
Tail:
We knit 12 air loops. In the second loop from the hook we make an increase and knit in increments in each loop to the end. Close it, leave the thread for sewing and twist the tail a little.
Piglet (different shade of yarn):
- 6 Art in CA.
- 6 P.
- 6 times - P, Art.
- Tighten, leave a long thread.

We leave a long thread for all the parts, with which we will sew them to the body.
Skirt (different shade of yarn):
- 48 VP, we close it in a ring.
- 16 times - 2 StN, P.
- 64 st.
- VP, through loop StN, 3 St2N, StN, VP, through loop C. Repeat the rapport to the end. We fill the thread.

When basting the details, make sure that they are located symmetrically
Sew on all the details and eyes, embroider eyebrows and nostrils, put on a skirt, tint the cheeks and ears with dry pastel. If you wish, you can attach some kind of jewelry to your head.

The head of the pig can be decorated as desired
If you knit toys from time to time, or even started for the first time, and you don't have the right stuffing, don't be discouraged! You can tie the finished ball. I use deodorant balls for this. Very convenient - simple and the toy will never lose its shape. Balls for table tennis or rattles are also suitable.

Instead of stuffing, you can use ready-made balls, for example, from deodorant
