Many dog owners consider their pets to be full-fledged family members, so they need to pamper them with various treats like chocolate as often as possible. But, unfortunately, they have no idea what harm they do to the health of their pet. What products are prohibited, and what danger do they pose to our smaller brothers?

Prohibited food for dogs

The digestive system of dogs is significantly different from that of humans. This means that it is highly discouraged to feed your pet from a common table, as this can cause various diseases, up to and including death.

List of prohibited foods for our smaller brothers:

  1. Chocolate. This much-loved dessert contains theobromine, which has toxic effects on the body. If it is excreted from the human body almost immediately, then it will take about 17 hours for the animal to cleanse itself. Naturally, in small doses, chocolate is not particularly dangerous, but having tried this delicacy once, pets become its loyal fans, so they can safely pull the bar off the table and eat it. So, one bar of dark chocolate is a lethal dose for dwarf dogs. In addition, chocolate contains sugar, the regular consumption of which can trigger the development of diabetes. Dyes, flavor enhancers, flavors provoke allergic reactions.

  2. Tubular bones. They are not absorbed and not digested by the pet's body, but only accumulate in the stomach, provoking constipation. In addition, the dog may suffer from volvulus.
  3. Pork is fatty meat, so it is poorly digested in the pet's body. If a dog regularly consumes pork, then its kidneys and liver work in an intensive mode, which means that the body is aging rapidly. This product can only be given to your pet in small portions.

    pork is not always well digested in dogs, especially those prone to indigestion

  4. Bread, pasta, and potatoes are a source of fast carbohydrates that spike blood glucose, short satiety, followed by increased hunger. Which is fraught with overeating, which means obesity. In addition, these foods do not contain fiber, which can cause constipation, but they contain a lot of starch, which the dog's body can only digest in limited quantities.

Allowed dog treats

If you still want to pamper your pet with a “tasty treat”, then it is better to give it:

  • sweet fresh peppers;
  • carrot;
  • an Apple;
  • special bones from a pet store;
  • biscuits for dogs;
  • cucumber;
  • banana.

But everything should be in moderation. After all, fruits contain sugar and in large quantities can cause diabetes. As for purchased delicacies, here you should pay attention to the quality of the product, its composition.

When I had a husky, I often bought her cookies, dried tails and ears, special bones. I have never taken the products of the PRC, as there are no standards for the production of animal feed. And also paid attention to the composition. I tried to take treats with the least amount of flavors, preservatives and other food additives.

The assortment of snacks and treats for dogs offered by the shops is very diverse: toothpicks, training snacks, cookies, sausages, jerky and dried meat, tails, hooves, ears, dried tripe, pieces of lung

The food we are used to can become a real poison for our smaller brothers. This must be remembered every time there is a desire to treat your pet with something tasty.
