St. George Ribbon
St. George Ribbon

The St. George ribbon has a long history, this symbol takes its origins from the soldiers' orders, which were awarded by Empress Catherine II, and later it entered the USSR award system. The ribbon is presented in bicolor orange and black, which means flame and smoke. Today the St. George ribbon is a symbol of victory over fascism and is used on Victory Day as a sign of memory and respect for the feat of the Soviet people. Often, black and orange cuts are massively distributed on the streets before the holiday, but you can make a solemn ribbon yourself, decorating at your own discretion.

  1. It is necessary to prepare materials - a 20–25 cm cut of a satin or denser striped rep ribbon, hot glue and a gun for it, as well as a base for a brooch.

Kanzashi ribbon

The finished loop from the St. George ribbon can be left in its pure form, or you can decorate it. The most commonly used flowers or petals made in the Japanese kanzashi technique from pieces of ribbon. They can be made in the same colors as the symbol of victory itself, or in any others - it all depends on personal preference and taste. To create a flower, you need to work on individual petals. For this you will need:

  • satin or rep ribbon 5 or 2.5 cm wide (depending on the desired petal size), cut into squares;
  • a candle or lighter to singe the edge;
  • tweezers (you can do without it, but there is a risk of getting burned);
  • scissors.

The simplest are sharp petals, which require:

  1. Fold a square of tape in half diagonally.
  2. Fold the resulting triangle two more times.
  3. Cut off a thin edge, burn it with fire and, while the material is hot, squeeze to fix the layers. The petal is ready.
  4. If necessary, you can make the petal not so high by cutting it off and singing it from below.

You can also make round petals:

  1. Fold the ribbon square in half.
  2. At the resulting triangle, reduce the corners at the base to the apex.
  3. Fold the rhombus into a triangle and secure the vertices of the small triangles with a lighter.
  4. It remains to cut and singe the edge, and straighten the finished petal.

A round petal is a little more difficult to create than a sharp one, but after several attempts it will definitely turn out

From the obtained petals, you can create a variety of combinations: glue twigs with a hot gun, put petals of different colors and sizes into each other and collect flowers from them, decorate the centers with beads or rhinestones. The finished decoration will only have to be sewn or glued with a hot gun to the tape itself, and the unique symbol is ready.
