5 ways to stop the growth of raspberries in the area

If you do not follow the raspberries, they quickly grow throughout the garden, capturing not only free space, but also vegetable beds, flower beds and paths. To prevent this, the gardener needs to properly care for the bush.

Pruning bushes

Pruning annually is the easiest way to keep raspberries from overgrowing the area. It is necessary to arrange the procedure in spring or autumn, removing old (more than 2 years old), dried and damaged shoots.

Slate fencing

The simplest and most affordable material for creating a fence is slate, because it can be found in almost any summer cottage. But some summer residents use sheets of iron and dense cellophane.

Having prepared a sufficient amount of slate, dig it around the bush, deepening it into the ground by 40-50 cm. The distance from the fence to the raspberries should be at least 1 m. When choosing pieces of slate, make sure that there are no holes and cracks in them, because this damage make the fence ineffective.

Planting oppressive plants

If the previous methods for some reason did not suit you, plant next to the raspberry tree plants that inhibit the growth of the dwarf shrub. These include sorrel, garlic, parsley, jasmine, radish, cherries, grapes, and sea buckthorn.
