The creators of the film "Prisoner of the Caucasus" were able not only to make the audience laugh and show a beautiful adventure story, the comedy reflects some of the realities of the Soviet era. If you watch a movie carefully, you can learn interesting facts about a bygone era. It is not for nothing that a rare musical center appears in the frame.

Dancing to the music

At the dacha, Comrade Saakhov had a large music center. He appears several times in the frame in the room where Nina was held captive.

The installation can be seen especially well in the scene where the characters of Vitsin, Nikulin and Morgunov come to the hostage and arrange dances. Music is played from this center.

This thing is called "Crystal-104" teleradiol. These centers combined a television, radio, tape recorder and vinyl player. It was convenient to both receive information and listen to music on them.

The predecessor of the model from the film was "Crystal-103". He combined a 12-channel TV "Rubin-102", a radio receiver "Lux", a tape recorder and a universal player "Yauza" for vinyl records. Later, the first batch of "Crystal-104" appeared. They had everything the same, except for the tape recorder.

Some models had an automatic plate changer. This made it possible to listen to up to 10 records in a row without stopping, after which the music playback was turned off by itself.

Radiola had modern furnishings and fit well into the living room interior. The multipurpose player, which was located under the radio, fell down and moved forward during use.

Some models had wooden sliding curtains on the front of the unit. One half covered the TV, the other half covered the receiver, tape recorder and turntable. This is the model of the radio that appears in the film. The left side with the TV was covered, and on the right, Vitsin's hero pressed the tape recorder button.

Such devices were coveted, but produced in limited editions. Far from everyone could afford radio, but only wealthy citizens.

These combined setups were the most expensive music centers at the time. They could be found in clubs, hotels and sanatoriums.

In the last decade, in the wake of nostalgia, interest in antiques has increased. Vinyl records became popular again, and with them, music players.

On the forums of lovers of Soviet technology, users shared that someone managed to catch the radio from such receivers, and also play records. But for the full operation of built-in TVs, an analog signal is required, not digital.
